0.2.5 REWORK AGAIN?! :D

Yeah, yeah rework again 0.2.5
Good day, ladies and gentlemen!
Long time no see, right?

I’m back with some great news. At this point, I guess it's becoming a tradition to rework the prologue after every release. And yes, I’ve done it again — once more! But I don’t see your happy faces... Oh, you're asking why?

Well, it's simple: I messed up! Let’s just say I gathered all the feedback from everywhere and everyone — and realized I’ve been doing some things wrong. Turns out, many of you wanted more clarity — what’s going on, why, and how. And instead of giving you answers, I just threw even more questions at you. Genius, right?

(Small spoiler: since I removed the scene with Anya, I’ve decided to make up for it by adding three scenes in the next update.)
I hope those three scenes will match the previous one quality, tbh anya and her scene is the one that made me paid attention to this game at first, without it I might've skipped this (as in didn't know this good game exist). While I'm still kinda struggle with all this rework, like anya and shiya appearance downgrade (imo) but at least olivia hairstyle is kinda better now... who am I kidding, at least GIVE BACK MY PRECIOUS ANYA T-T

The scene with Anya is simply wrong, the dev did the right thing by removing it, I know there are those players who like to play as a jerk MC, but the MC in this story is not like that, and that's why it didn't make sense to have that scene.
If you want scenes with Anya, fine, just wait until there are scenes with her, but that one really deserved to be removed.

We've already seen several flashbacks of the MC's past and his interactions, so we can say for sure that he's not a jerk, especially with Olivia and her little sister.

Those who like playing as a jerk MC will never agree with this, but I'm happy with the removal of that scene.

Now I'm not saying it should've been removed. Maybe pushed back a bit or just add some more about him and his past. But it was weird as hell. Like you said we see how he is. A good dude, good grandpa, obviously still troubled with the wife. Saves the girl, then we get the option shortly after and throat fuck her. And I'm just sitting there like... where the hell this come from? Viewing both options for... obvious scientific purposes. Turning it down matched personality. Going through with it and I'm asking who is this dude? Felt like a scene added because we still need some poon in the porn game.

I mean the MC is going to be a horn dog? Cool. Little rough with the foreplay? Cool. Welcome to the club of almost everything on this website. But maybe work them little details in beforehand. And the bathroom scene afterwards was just.... something.

Tried it. Well, it is disappointment.

Fine beautiful pics, fine setting and polished idea. But why so boring and tedious start? Why throw at me so much names from the get go? Why MC so old and fucked up? Oh, wife, ok, but then... SON, GRANDDAUGHTER, da fuq? I dropped it right when you start another sad memories on the porch.

No, dude, just, no. Im not here for constantly crying about whole family some sad veteran. Even pretty renders would not do it.

I was expected action, adventures, challenges, girls in more believable conditions and spicy situations. Not this sad mess.
So.. Is it actually that bad? Just some old veteran sob story? And with many rework im kinda paranoid about this game

Well is not that bad imo and no need to get kinda paranoid about it hehe. I still didn't played the rework but for what I've seen previously, and this is a first time creator for what I'm aware, they are still inexperienced in presenting a correct narrative of events and interaction/dialogues between the characters, in resume inexperienced storyteller.

It is always something in our minds and then show a different thing for the readers, but they are learning and taking the constructive criticism and suggestion their supporters are giving and that is a good sign. They will learn techniques for sure to improve the storytelling and mostly learn to better plan each scene and the overall departments of game developing.

What bothered me the least was some convoluted events and plot and that is easily corrected and for what I read on devlogs here in the thread and feedback from the dev it seems most of the rework was on this, I'll check it in the next days.

What bothered me the most was how the dialogues between characters flow, seems dry (I even find hard to say an accurate word hehe, seems unnatural dialogues between people), it is harder to correct that mindset from the developer but with outside help (like it was suggested in the thread before, an editor) and experience they can improve a lot. It is always better to stay positive and not getting "paranoid" about it, this game have more pluses for me than minus items.

yah i just flat out agree tbh lol. The scene with Anya made virtually 0 sense at all. Hate that this was a non-update (technically) but definitely understood the reasoning behind it. It was a good scene but could have just flipped it in a way that was more realistic to the events rather than making the MC have a random dark side that only came out once and vanished permanently. Couldn't quite fathom that one.

I knew that character felt familiar. Guess we forgot to remove the horns in a few of the renders? Mainly the scene in the weapon armoury. Horns kept switching every other render.

Oof, I regret going through the game again and finishing it days before this new update came out.
Should have waited couple of days. :HideThePain:

I ended up just going through some scenes early on where the changes were most noticeable (complete change in renders), and the rest just ended up ctrl fast skipping.
Luckily it does seem like majority of rework had been in Chapter 1.

All the changes I do find are improvement (and at least even the "soulless" are explained this time around).
But honestly, I really hope this is the last rewrite of early game (or any rewrite in general tbh lol).
I could be remembering it wrong, but it's the third time this game had gotten rewrite now?

There's only so much I can take after constant rewrite (and I'm not disputing their necessity here) which just make me feel burnt out on going through same parts again and again.
The story really must move on to the next chapter.

Although I also dislike rewrites, in this situation I find it completely acceptable, the game is in development and the rewrites have been made based on community feedback, and with that, the final version of the game can only be better and not worse.

I approve of these rewrites, for those who do not, it would be best to wait for the game to be completed.

I was impressed that the dev made the fixes so quickly, and to be honest, at the moment I haven't had much time to play games, and I even thought that I would only be able to test the new version in a week or two, but since I like the game, I found the time and remade my gameplay, and I loved it.

As I said in my post, I'm not disputing the rewrites necessity.
Plus, it's not like I'm a stranger to the devs doing rewrites. Having said that, with other devs, they generally tend to finish it in a single rewrite. This is the first game I'm playing which the dev has made 3 consecutive rewrites in a row.

And while I get noone is perfect, at this stage (as of v0.2.5), I think enough is enough with rewrites.
Story really needs to move on.
If the dev states not long after this update "guys, I'm rewriting the early game once more" then I'm sorry to say despite liking the game, I'd rather just drop this game completely than go through the beginning (again, for the fourth time) trying to find what are the newly rewritten lines/words.
I normally consider myself to be quite patient, but even my patience has its limits lol.
This is me being brutally honest (even though this may not be what the dev may want to hear, it is what it is).

But hey, if you (or others) don't mind the above, then I guess more power to you & those that do the same.
Perhaps it just comes to show you have more passion & loyalty towards this game and the dev than I do.

After so many rewrites you figure you'd have to just put it on the back burner and work on it in the background then drop it after a few more updates, even if you think "i got it this time fr fr. best intro ever". Having one every other update gets to be a bit much lol.

I think it also comes to show that the dev needs to put a lot more thought into his writing and his overall plans & outline of the storyline (for this game) before actually committing to releasing with the renders for his updates.

Cause if I was given the choice between faster updates releases yet frequent rewrites of existing updates vs slower updates yet much less re-writes happening (personally, zero rewrites is most preferable, but you never know what might happen lol), then I'd always pick the latter over the former.

And yes, the whole community feedback is nice of the dev and all, but the constant all too frequent re-writes really starts wearing thin after some point (at least in my eyes).

So my advice to the dev is, rather than rushing into developing the next release, think long and hard about the following;

- Is what I have written make sense in terms of overall continuity?
- Is what I have written properly give characters' motivations & reasonings?
- Are characters given enough depth so they don't just come off as one note throwaway characters which makes them meaningless?
- Is the storyline and the arc I'm telling answering questions which have been imposed before, and will my future arcs answer the currently imposed questions?

All this and more, even if it takes longer, I'd just prefer the dev try to get it right when he actually releases the update, rather than constant "release-feedback-fix" routine that he's got going currently which I think is not really optimal approach.

To make it clear, this is my personal opinion, & if others don't agree with it, it's fine.
Different strokes for different folks.

I'm glad there's so many convinced they could do better. It means we'll soon have a whole slew of excellent VNs coming out, right?

Well, I read the comments, and in general, what can I say. The scene with Anya wasn't originally planned, but because I needed at least one ‘As I thought at the time’ scene. I forced it in, and I decided to play it out the way it turned out. Who knew that that moment would make the game mostly memorable.

Who would’ve thought that this particular moment would be the one the game is mostly remembered for?

And what can I say — there will be more with Anya, but not anytime soon. I’ve started working on her character properly before showing more of her. That said, I do plan to include a few moments with her in version 0.3.

As for reworks and all that crap — I’m done. I’m not changing anything else. I’ve fixed everything that bothered me and everything that made the game unclear.
And if you still find it confusing, boring, or meaningless — I’m sorry, but this game isn’t made for everyone. I’ve come to terms with that. Instead of trying to please everyone, I’ll focus on a specific audience.

Now, about the pacing and why I’m pushing things out so fast — it’s because I’m the kind of person who learns from their mistakes. Or at least tries to.
But to be fair, in 0.1 I was focused on render quality. In 0.1.5 — on the story. In 0.2 — on the dialogues. And in 0.2.5, I tried to bring all of those aspects up to a middle level. Going forward, I’ve started taking the script and Q&A structure more seriously. (Right now I have a 50-page Word file tracking character motivations, what the player already knows, and what questions still need to be answered.)

I’m not trying to justify myself. I started from zero, literally. No experience, no talent — just persistence and one thought: “I want to share this story with the world.” That’s it.

That’s all I wanted to say. If I ever do another rework, feel free to trash the game completely.
Wishing everyone good vibes and positivity.
