I don't remember the whole procedure, so I can only drop a hint.
If you have a single-file *.exe game, you need to unpack it [7Zip], you should change one of the variables in options.ini from CreateTexturesOnDemand=0 to CreateTexturesOnDemand=1.
It's also correlated with the GPU so You could try change which GPU (integrated with CPU or external - like Intel or NVidia) will run your game. You can try updating your video card drivers, too.

To set the default GPU for your application or game, you'll need to associate your games with it so your computer will know which GPU to use.
- From Start Icon, type "Graphics Settings". Click the results from System Settings.
- Click Desktop App.
- Click your application. If your application is not on the list, you will need to browse to the folder where the .exe file is located.
- Once identified, click Options.
- Set the application to your preferred GPU.
- Click save.
