Not gonna make any comment on the game's worth since that's subjective, but please tell me you realise the reason the game has a small filesize is because it's pixel art? You do realise how huge texture files are in comparison, right?250 MB![]()
This is a raster graphic, it shouldn't be any bigger in size. Not gonna make any comment on the game's worth since that's subjective, but please tell me you realise the reason the game has a small filesize is because it's pixel art? You do realise how huge texture files are in comparison, right?
Its real simple. Its using Game Maker with low resulution. the amount of art is much higher than most porn games, from what I remember it was 80+ sex scenes combined but that was the old version. They're just only a few kb in size each. Not gonna make any comment on the game's worth since that's subjective, but please tell me you realise the reason the game has a small filesize is because it's pixel art? I do, but Aurelia is not FTL or Steam World Dig with similar sizes, where devs put massive effort into gameplay mechanics etc.Not gonna make any comment on the game's worth since that's subjective, but please tell me you realise the reason the game has a small filesize is because it's pixel art? As sanshisan said it has like 80+ sex scenes? I think that's up there with the amount of content in a lot of other fully completed H games. It's a porn game, and it just dosen't have enough content to justify 20$ price tag.
Ah I see what you mean now, I thought you were calling the 250mb small lol - yeah I agree, a sizeable part of that increase will be due to low optimisation, but we'll have to wait and see.He probably blew game size by some uncompressed audio and redundant assets. It's not like 1.0 will have 2.5x more content than 0.31 we have right now.
I mean this is where we'll probably have to disagree on the whole art/worth being subjective thing - but I genuinely think the art quality, writing, character designs and soundtracks in Aurelia are of exceptional quality and the whole package even just in v0.31 is already worth $20 to me. There are $70 AAA releases that have given me less joy, and therefore less value, than this random porn game hasIf you look on other games even from the same publisher Aurelia is nothing special, but somehow costs 33% more than their best games? Seems to match right with Mirthal's overconfidence and ego tho![]()
Don't worry haha, I do a lot of modding of these texture/sprite files (both for Aurelia and other pixel art games) so I'm keenly aware of how teensy they are!Its real simple. Aurelia production was 150% financed by PatreonJust my two cents anyway, nothing against you not finding the game worth it, but if you're curious where the pricing has come from I'd suspect it's from Aurelia's very high production value.
To be fair, the moment this game goes up on Patreon it goes up here. Doing an early release would absolutely torpedo the Steam sales. Sure, it's not very kind towards the patrons but it's not really my problem.who won't even get build before general release
I doubt we can compete even with patreon - in numbers. And patreon can't compete with Steam. So our 500 downloads here can hurt only his ege.To be fair, the moment this game goes up on Patreon it goes up here. Doing an early release would absolutely torpedo the Steam sales. The pixeldrain link to 0.31 here alone has over 28k downloads and the thread nears 6m views. And in general, even outside of f95 you'll often find certain patreons having 3 times the favorites on Kemono than they have followers/subscribers. Piracy isn't nearly as niche as you think. I'm not saying anything along the lines of piracy being harmful, I'm just saying it's a lot bigger than what you assume.I doubt we can compete even with patreon - in numbers. I've bought Witcher 3 + Divinity Original sin 2 for about 20 bucks. Someone got his ego swollen.
Wow, I really underestimated the numbers. Still, more arguments in favor of lowering the price - more likely that someone will decide to support the developer. Well, again, let's see the content first. The pixeldrain link to 0.31 here alone has over 28k downloads and the thread nears 6m views. Not like it matters but Weekend doesn't count, so it's been under review for 3/4 days actually.its now 27th of november in my country and as of now im writing this message at 6:15 pm and im curious on what they doing inside steam HQ cuz the game's under review for like a week now like wtf is this shit
You're comparing release price to heavily discounted sale price, which is a little apple and oranges, no?Fuck him, 20 bucks is damn overprice. I've bought Witcher 3 + Divinity Original sin 2 for about 20 bucks. Someone got his ego swollen.
Good luck with the exams dude and hope you'll be able to celebrate with this release hahahI had beaten this game at 100% and I cannot wait for the full release. I have got exams tomorrow and I want to release my stress (and other things) with this game.
Ok, not quite valid comparsion. Sons of the forest, full game, complete with coop and all, 30$. Enshrouded early acces with shitload of content AND coop multiplayer - 30$.So that pair of games you're talking about is $110 at release, compared to Aurelia's $20 at release.
That's an 82% lower price
It's still up to you whether that's personally worth it for you. For me, for the sheer amount of content and quality in Aurelia, I think it is. For you, you might not like it as much, and that's fine as well.
