I also believed he could deliver, once.
Now i'm wondering if it was an elaborate scam or if he got in over his head and his work is so messy he can't tell where's the tail and where's the head anymore but won't admit it.

At this point, if i was told the original demo was handed over to him and then he tried to figure out how to turn it into a game, it would all make sense.

Yes. Except, I have admitted it on numerous occasions. In fact, it's what I stress to any new developer. Start small, learn what you're doing, complete a game, then if you're comfortable with it all, go for that "epic."

It's incredible how this discussion is able to last over the years and the arguements all remain the same.

I too loved the premise of the game and thought it had lots of potential to become one of the best adult games around, but clearly YT wasn't capable of delivering. Maybe he will in the future or maybe he won't. I don't know that and apart from him no one else can say. But calling it a scam is just ridiculous. YT always had is pledges to be run by update and not monthly, and that's not the case with most developpers. In that sense I can't understand the logic that goes through people's heads when they call it a scam, cause from what I seem to remember he only collected pledges once and it was for Aina's Hunter translation and he informed his patrons before running the pledge giving them time to cancel the pledge in case they didn't want to be charged by that. If I'm mistaken, please feel free to correct me.

Anyway, my point is just that this is an old conversation that we've seen over and over and I think it's time for people to move on. If eventually one day we get and update to this by YT great, if not, then it's just life, the only harm ever done was regarding people's expectations.

Well, i can't say i followed all the comments, good to know.

Now, is it right to let people hanging for years with so little progress (if any) ?
I think you should put it to rest and if you can find a partner with the skills you lack and have enough energy for another round, start a new project.

xgrotesc - Well said.

maxx mad - I meant yes, I definitely got in over my head and Aylia's Story was not a good game to start on. No, I don't think giving release dates and missing them was right. That's why I have not been doing that. That said, I don't see any issue with me continuing to work in my spare time on the game if I'm not giving people release dates or making promises beyond that I'm working on it.

4 years to get one chapter out? Come on mate. The progress you made between the first release and now is so small I can barely tell the difference. With that work ethic no game was a good game to start on.

Whatever you do on your own free time is absolutely up to you, there is no doubt about that. But don't kid yourself, you are not capable of working on a game on your own. You're way too lazy. You make way too many excuses which makes me believe you also lie to yourself constantly with the "I'll do it tomorrow" and the worst of it all, you lied over and over and over about how much progress you had made and that is the one thing that personally irks me, not anything else.

With that out of the way. You should've found someone to write and code your game a long time ago while you would just write the story and do the illustrations but truth be told, even that I don't believe you would be able to do at this point.

When a developer says "I'm burned out" or "I don't want to develop anymore" it's sad but I understand. Even if they disappear I give them the benefit of the doubt because something might have happened. Constantly telling people "I've done X" or "I'm going to work on X over the weekend" for so many years is just... shameful really.

I don't want to sound petty. I just don't see you in good light and until proven otherwise, I never will. Don't let this ruin your day tho because my opinion should be irrelevant to you. I'm just a random that used to be your Patron and got charged once for promises.

No, but it should be considered "On Hold" right now so people don't get frustrated. Pop in every few months and see if there is progress. I'm only working on it as a hobby currently.
If you do it for simple Hobby, wouldn't you be missing the promise of Goal 5? You affirm that you will do it in full time. It is not that you want to disrespect but it is discouraging to see that there is hardly any progress even when you earn so much money for update.

Yet, in all the time that his patreon has been up he only charged one update and it was 2 or 3 years ago, so please, get some facts right before you start to light this thread on fire again.

he should join a team that do all the coding and writing while he just focus on the art.
that would have helped him. now its just a disappointment for everyone that believed in him.
