Ah this is so sad. I was an early patron and I remained pledged for about 6 years. But after completing a degree, starting a second one and finishing that all before a release I realized it was time to move on.

Hopefully we actually get to see some forward development. I still hope there can be something fun come out of all this.

Now that means Wherzat Thys is truly lost in the mountains... Jokes aside, thanks for your support. Sorry it never took off over the years. I'm hoping this time around things go better. I guess we'll see. Good luck to you and congrats on your degrees!

This has to be the saddest project in the entire western porn game scene. How the dev doesn't get tired of promising his first (real) update for 8 years is beyond me. If only that autistic effort went into the game itself.

Talking is easier than working and we all know how boring work can be. Luckily this is not the case here. Just a very big misunderstanding, right? :Kappa:

At this point he is either mentally ill and actually believes all his own lies or he simply gets his rocks off by constantly lying.

You guys are weird. There was literally a release on Patreon a week ago. I'll share it publicly, I just would like to get a few last pieces of artwork done and in the game before spreading it publicly.

Yeah weirdos, he literally JUST redid all the things that were already in the game for the 4th time. What more do you want?
Yes, the posts above are weird. If you don't believe in the project, then ignore it. It's really not hard. But, it's a bit weird a few days after the release to complain about the dev not working on the game. Clearly, there is work on the game. It might not be the work you think should be done, but a release of any type doesn't happen without work being done. When you add in that all this complaining is occurring in a thread that is labeled ON HOLD it becomes even weirder. The thread's own label is warning potential people that the game is on hold, so I'm not even sure what purpose your ranting achieves.

I mean it's about as useful as referring to a buggier version of the exact same content as an update, except I'm not the one who charged people money for it.

You could always get past the prologue if you really want to shut people up. My breath is fully bated.

I didn't release it publicly, I released it to patrons who get access to pre-release versions as part of their pledge rewards. Those bugs were fixed within hours and the download link updated. I guess I'm thankful that you are excited enough about the game to still be here after all these years. It should move past the prologue in the coming months. Thank you.

Yes, I'm continuing development. The money collected from the pledge will go to commissioning the remaining system components (primarily the battle stuff). I also plan on putting out public releases, but I'm working on the last few pieces of artwork before I do. Thanks.

"This is the first and only pledge to Aylia's Story for thousands of hours of work between the VX Ace prologue and the MV port."

There is so much wrong with this statement, it's insane. Thousands of hours of work, most if not all of which is rehashed work from a public demo that has not been updated in many years. Didn't you used to say you were partway or nearly done with chapter 1? What happened to that? If I'm not misremembering, why change to MV? What was wrong with VX Ace? Engine ports are a massive project killer for many games, so unless there is a good reason for it, such as game breaking issues that cannot be solved or impossible to continue adding new content, so serious issues, I would strongly suggest you stick with what you're already using, even if several more RPG maker engines release between now and chapter 1's eventual release.

Another bit of advice, since I know you used to do this back when I used to be a Patron (cancelled for financial reasons) I would also suggest: fuck updating art. At least, for now. Maybe revisit art once certain milestones are reached, for example, updating the art if it's needed in the prologue during development through chapter 1, or better chapter 2, or don't revisit it until the game in it's entirety is near complete or the art is vastly different. I still remember your first bout of art updates, to me, it looked virtually similar, and was not worth the time invested in redoing it. Hell, I have a demo from 2017 still, I checked the art in there compared to more recent art, and if the art at the start of the MV demo is as old as 2017 art and the end is the recent shit, that would be a hundred times better, and much more time efficient, than what's in the now. No clue when your last art revisits were since I haven't followed any of my Patreon follows for a couple years, but I feel this is important. People want a game first, art second.

The statement I quoted alone makes me want to absolutely hate this project, despite absolutely loving it in the past, but the fact it's pledge system is on a main update system gives you some leeway, however not as much as it used to, since you said the first pledge would be chapter 1.

The harsh words are deserved, but for the love of everything don't disregard constructive criticism because of it, even if you've been bombarded with it for years.

I don't disregard constructive criticism, and I have earned a lot of it. When I choose to argue something, it's generally something I perceive as a lie. For example, the claim that the artwork is the same. That's a lie. Some of the art was upscaled and then problems fixed, while others were completely redrawn. The scene where Dirk pulls down the potato sack, for example. If you think that artwork is the same, you're blind.

The thing I hated the most about VX Ace was working in 640x480. It's simply awful, especially when you spend hours drawing something you really like then downscale it to 640x480 and you can't even see your work. Yes, the switch to MV has been challenging and I'm still not down with the plugins to get it back to where VX Ace was, but it's a better game in MV.

On the pledges, the reality is that if you don't think it's worth a pledge, then don't pledge. I mean, it's a pretty straightforward process. I'd prefer you wait until you see progress you feel warrants your money and support. Thank you for your past support.

My comments surrounding criticism were more of a just-in-case scenario, too often do people disregard criticism when it's harsh or constant. Art wise, I am pretty blind to certain changes and differences I'll admit, and those first reworks were so long ago, all I remember is there were one or two instances where a redo could have been ignored. Couldn't tell you what exactly, though. Though, if downscaling was an issue, why not make the drawing 640x480 to begin with? Unless the initial stage is on paper and then scanned in, having to downscale it just seems like an avoidable issue, from someone with a completely clueless grasp on artwork.

Because frankly, to me, there are hundreds of VX Ace games with awesome looking art, some of which I swear to god were larger than 640x480 when extracted, so what did they do to circumvent the issues you had?

My only feedback for the creator of this very promising project with a gorgeous MC is:

'DONE' IS BETTER THAN 'PERFECT.'

I'd rather have a dozen imperfect games that have content instead of one 30-minute segment that's gotten a dozen rewrites and redraws over a decade of development.

Super Quick Update
Sorry about not making a month end post. I had planned on posting the public release, but I'm waiting on a fix for the battle HUD. Given that it's now already the 11th, I figured I needed to update you guys.

The public release is basically ready, I'm just waiting on a fix so that Bogwort's HUD components display correctly. When I get that, I'll update the HUD positions and post the release. I don't know when the programmer will have time to get to it though, but I don't believe it will be terribly long.

I'm already working on 0.15 content. I'd like to post 0.15 at the end of this month. You can check Trello to see some of what's done. I'm still not amazing at update Trello, but I'm getting better.

Finally, I'll try my best to include patch notes going forward so people know what to expect with each release. I can't promise they'll be exhaustive, but they should give people an idea of what's new. I don't want them to spoil the experience though.

Thanks, and hope to upload the public release soon!
