You're right that perfect is the enemy of good, and perfectionism has crippled development in this game. I disagree with you beyond that. If this were still 2015/2016 and development hadn't faltered due to my inexperience/incompetence, then sure, more of the VX Ace prologue would have been great. Hell, I'd have made a good chunk of money as well. It's not, and the VX Ace experience doesn't cut it anymore.

I also strongly disagree that people are still following this game just because they hope to see tits. My artwork was never high enough quality to have garnered the support I did. Based on the feedback I've received, Aylia's Story captured people's attention because of the experience. It was the context surrounding the tits that made it worth playing. Sure, the tits matter, but I can search F95 and find 100s of basic RPG Maker games with female protagonists and better artwork. Why would I create another? That seems like a really shitty goal to set for myself.

Ultimately, I'm crafting the game I always wanted to play because despite playing h-games for years I've yet to find a single one that does what I want Aylia's Story to do. Virgin Island was probably the closest. It's not about spending time creating a special skill tied to Bogwort's relationship, whatever that means. It's about building a game where the maps are not eyesores that you run through bored out of your mind. That the story is not broken English that reads like it was written by a 3rd grader. That the progression is not a repetitive series of jobs/fetch quests that change slightly based on a linear corruption stat. That the battles are not the standard clothing gets torn until her tits pop out with a single monster groping CG and then her clothes are magically fixed. I'm tired of all that, and there are tons of games out there to satisfy people if that's what they want. I want to build something special for the people who are looking for what I've been looking for. If it takes me 20 years, so be it. I'm going to fucking do it... eventually.

You said previously that you hope to finish this game in 2024. So probably it will be small. At least add more content to it for 20 years, so it will be bigger.
I think the 20 years was about being in self denial. That he will accomplish with flying colors.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. It is important for the low distribution developers to make the game they want, not the game their players want. They are never going to be able to recoup their time developing a good game, so in order to finish it they have to enjoy the process.

Now if they want to make it a commercial success then either their vision for the game needs to match their player's wants or they need to compromise. I don't think Yummy has been too worried about "commercial success".

So far his vision for this game has been refreshing and interesting to me, not everyone will agree. I will continue to follow it and hope it remains interesting enough for Yummy to keep creating it. He is doing it for free at this point.

If players don't like the direction and vision of the game there are *a lot* of other options available, many of which directly pander to their players desires (and are often more commercially successful).

This game is meant to be a slow burn corruption type game. You won't see a sex scene for a few releases yet. Next few releases will have groping, ENF-style scenes, some oral, titjobs, and other foreplay type stuff. It may not be your type of game if you don't like slow burn corruption.
no problem there is a game that I follow that the creator disappeared about 2 years ago and we don't know if he's alive or dead I'm a patient guy

Incorrect. Your MC is ridiculously hot and we want to see her in sexual situations. A deeper story is neat, but I bet a not-trivial number of people are going to speed through the story just to get her naked.

If you want a deeper story, that's fine. But you don't have to reinvent the wheel to make that happen. Twelve Days of Christmas is a corruption story that's fucking amazing but it's still a VN with some relatively generic choices.

As I've said and as others have said, "DONE is better than perfect." Push out this product: push out ANY product... and then go back and work on it. You're not releasing a movie in Hollywood where it's immutable after release; you can live and breathe the project once it's out in the world.

Thanks for the compliment on my artwork, I appreciate it. I hear what you're saying, and I don't disagree that done is better than the game wallowing in development hell. Right now, development is going pretty well. I have high hopes for this year.

While the lore and the overall story may not be important to everyone, the other components in the game are designed to contribute to sexual content. Meaning, I'm aiming to not just add something to add it, I add things that lead to h-content. The battle system is designed with h-content in mind. Meaning a battle UI that focuses on character artwork and cut-ins with sexual content. Enemy balance that lends itself to organic h-content. The quests in the game should all lead to sexual content in some way. Rivals were added so that sexual content would be accessible if the player took Aylia down a more "pure" path. So, assuming things keep moving forward, I think the worry that players won't get access to more and more sexual content is unnecessary. It will come.

I am very encouraged by this. For some reason I almost always end up taking some variant of a "pure" path in these type of games - and that often results in missing a great deal of a games content. I believe it stems from my rpg background and I see the character's history and motivation and it rarely encourages deviant experimentation - and so I can't picture the character as seeing the deviant route as "winning" and thus end up striving the other direction. I typically can't play ScaleGarden's jrpgs for long because of this despite their high quality - sooner or later the MC just ends up forced to do something out of character that they should reject rather than encourage them into deviancy.

So I'm looking forward to whatever may or may not come this year.

Making a game as a solo developer is challenging, what can I say. Sadly, another month passed and I wasn't able to get everything done. On to March. Let me know when you release a game, I'll give it a try.
LOL I tried several years ago, the results were poor, the work was high, and it took forever. Trust me, I respect the efforts you put into this game and am amazed by the quality of your results. Thank you for sharing your efforts with us.

Now to get back to my real job and try to get some software that is already two months behind schedule closer to going out the door.

Maybe you could add updatable info to the top of your patreon instead of random month promises like in this example:

The production time for new release: 3 ~ 4 months.

Overall update progress: 25%

Text (17/20) [85%]
Script (0/19) [0%]
Levels (4/9) [44%]
Images (0/19) [0%]
Translation (0/18) [0%]
