Isn't a bit too harsh? I still like the game, even with the patch.

No one is saying you can't like it.

But if someone was interested in the story as in STORY, the patch is detrimental for most.

If you want to look at the images and imagine they are all blood-related, the patch doesn't ruin anything - but then, you could imagine that regardless ...

If you are interested in stories that are more than your minimum porn plot, most people find the patch completely changing the dynamic and expected behaviors of the actors. Therefore changing the atmosphere, how the characters come across, based on their actions, based on the new family dynamics, and opening plot holes on the way - in one word, it lets the plot shine in a bad light and leaves bad memories.

"... even with the patch. " - imagine how much you might like the story without then.
I like incest myself - but it is like a spice. Use it where it fits, and dishes with other spices taste great as well.

Perhaps, but honestly I don't know how making Rachel the real mom for the MC can work with the story.

During flashbacks, we learn that the MC's mother was the wife of the father, that she died, and that afterward MC's father had a new girlfriend, Rachel. And that they get Ellie together.
Also, at that time, Rachel was mean to the MC, because the father was abusive and violent. As a result Rachel had grudges against the MC.
I don't try the patch, but I can't see how all of that story can make sens if Rachel is the MC's mother.
You need to change the flashbacks, not just a few word.

I really don't see the point of the incest patch for this game either. I use them when it's obvious that they are meant to be used, in "landlady/roommate" games. Bad Memories isn't anything like that. The patch just makes things weird. (Or so I assume)

I am a hardcore fan of incest and I don't see the point in playing something in the wrong way just because you want more incest than it already has.

When I first got into AVNs a few years ago, it was probably the top tag I looked for. Now, I've seen just about everything and most of the games are pretty much the same. Now I usually only apply the i-patch if it makes sense in a story, (especially if it has cringe dialogues about landlords and landladies). For Bad Memories, I'm happy with the scenario as is written by the dev.

The obsession for it in VN's on some sites can be just insane at times.
Things should just be what they are, let the authors tell the story as it is.
Tag it accurate so those of us that want or don't want particulars know what it is.

Some start out as no incest, no heavy kinks then.. some get demanding.
Developers/Authors start bending to the will others, at times ruining titles.
As well as Dev's getting burnt out, abandoning projects and sometimes all of it.

This title as well as many others can suffer greatly with 3rd-party patches.

Same problem but I get it only in my Ellie-solo path, not in the harem path. The script supposes that you have more locations to visit after seeing the 2 pornstars, so your home doesn't appear yet on the map.

Put this file in the game's "game" folder overwriting the old file.

Sorry, not working, if I use the save when MC talks to the 2 pornstars then I still get a blank map after rejecting them. If I use a previous save, I get to visit the school, then the office, and then the map shows MC's home but skip the meeting the 2 pornstars.

So, I "found" the filming scene with two porn actresses. Is the dev making fun of people that just need to see naked girls going at it or of other adult games and films with simple dialogues? And it looks like the mc's harem will be growing soon. She might need a bigger house to accommodate them all in the end.

yeah i got the same issue. i replaced the file's content, keeping a copy of the original as maps-old.rpy just in case but it didn't do anything. i tried older saves too but the issue persists.
