The items that give double points aren't working for me. It will be impossible for me to get the true end, which is a bit shit. I had to start a new playthrough a few hours in as well, as the items got bugged (partly my fault for not using every save slot tbf. At least I would have had a backup). Fun game, although I wish there was a way to turn off CG because it gets very repetitive. Skipping all the sequences with Ctrl still takes time.

Looks like an extract error. I'd try making sure my PC Locale was set to JP, have the JP language packs installed, and double check your zip extractor settings THEN try downloading the entire file again. Start from scratch and delete the one you currently have. It's not a *common* issue with older RPGM games but often enough to older titles like Saboten/MMafia games that we kind of accept it just happens.

Change winrar to Japanese before extracting it, if it still doesn't work then use Locale Emulator to run the game in Japanese
