The problem was that there is a mechanism for the gang missions that counts down every day! This was buggy in this version. As a result, you couldn't make the gang progress in the first few weeks. The Kate sideplot thing was an accidental consequence of this bug, because missed gang scenes accelerated the Influencer sideplot.

Oh, I wouldn't call her a sexdoll. She is an adult woman with her own interests. She likes young guys and had an affair with a young porn actor and uses every opportunity to fuck MC.
That a woman approaching 40 falls head over heels in love with a guy half her age romantically is a bit unrealistic from Valerie's point of view. At the moment Valerie sees in MC something like a sex doll!
But indeed, there is more than just sexual interest in MC, which is also indicated at the end of version 012a.

After she came to the basement at night, it takes a few day until she speeks with you again while dinner.
Did you left the house when she was waiting for you?
Maybe you left the home to work in the tireshop.

It should be already fixed with patch 012a-03 with preventing the player from leaving home that moment.

CTRL + O
type valcd = 4
play on
Now Valerie is in kitchen and ready to talk to you.

I guess you are stuck and you are not using the fix 012a-03 linked in the first post here?

You should use that fix and start a new game.

I'm glad that you could now play through the game after there were problems at the beginning!
The next update will be a bit bigger and I haven't set a release date yet. It might be released in the middle of march, maybe earlier.
I don't know if I will release it on steam, probably not. But I don't know that yet.
First of all the game will be developed until the end and that will probably take until the end of this year.
The only thing I know for sure is that after this game the next game will be developed
