I use the transparent text box mod (https://f95zone.to/threads/renpy-transparent-text-box-mod-v2-6-3.11925/) for most Renpy games, but this is the only game I've encountered where the quick menu disappears along with the text box when using the mod. Is there any way around this?

Disregard this, the patch caused the issue somehow. Redownloaded it and it's fine now.

In the general sense, not passing judgement on this game or any other in particular, but some developers just decide their game is good enough for multiple playthroughs while still in the design phase, which by itself, is interesting. I've got this one on watched so I'll be interested to see how it all pans out down the road.

I think they did it to give the game replay value. If you see everything all in a single playthrough, then there's not much incentive to play it again, unless you really liked the story. But by rationing the content, it encourages players to play the game multiple times and unlocking all the content through multiple playthroughs.
