It's true, but it's easier said than done. It's a mentality and perspective thing that can't really be willed into being just by taking advice, you know? It requires a good deal of effort and practice. Most people aren't going to take on that endeavor, so it's just the stupid reality of this forum, unfortunately.

And see, here's where subjectivity comes in, because now that you mention that, it makes sense to me. I hate that guy's games, the writing seems super low-effort to me, and now I know why. :p

Yeah, but exactly that: it takes time and commitment, and sometimes that isn't even enough because there's a great deal of luck involved. Some devs just can't afford to sacrifice their time for little to no gain for long stretches, especially if they have other things they could be doing that are way more productive or beneficial (time with family, overtime at work, another hobby that could make more money, and so on). I'm sure a lot of it comes down to willpower too, but making a big VN is a time sink that could lead to no where, and no one realistically wants to carry that unless they're extremely passionate. Add to that the immense entitlement of users on this forum, and why would a dev want to keep coming back?

Yeah its easiere said then done, a few devs just need to learn how to look at the bigger picture, if a game can keep up 4-5 star ratings it normaly means game is great and most people like it, so the few that are just haters should really be ignored, one way could be to simply stay off the forums and keep to subscribers chats/forums and only check reviews.

And true blackheart is not for everyone but he has more followers and subs them most so hes doing something right, i personaly hated the first game truely did i gave it 1 star, but once the second game came out i loved the story and the twists even though i also hated the twists lol but that makes for a good game, to me hes really only gotten better and better, PA still one of my favorites.

I dont think luck plays the biggest role, if the game is great people will start signing up, problem is that it takes time so you have to either gamble and go all-in or just stick to it as a hoppy and not expect to make the big bucks like top games, even with slow updates you can make some money and gain subs (with a good game) just alot slower but that should be fine if its just a hobby, cant expect to get rich without going all-in, just like any other job where you work for years to get a promotion.
Also theres a reason why a ton of devs never comes to forums like this, haters and trolls tends to be loud so alot of devs ignores the forums and stick to sub chat/forums, if you only read in here lol then you would have 0 reasons to keep coming back, make a invite only discord for subs and your much better off and you can ban the trolls if one pops up.
