It's true, but it's easier said than done. It's a mentality and perspective thing that can't really be willed into being just by taking advice, you know? It requires a good deal of effort and practice. Most people aren't going to take on that endeavor, so it's just the stupid reality of this forum, unfortunately.

And see, here's where subjectivity comes in, because now that you mention that, it makes sense to me. I hate that guy's games, the writing seems super low-effort to me, and now I know why. :p

Yeah, but exactly that: it takes time and commitment, and sometimes that isn't even enough because there's a great deal of luck involved. Some devs just can't afford to sacrifice their time for little to no gain for long stretches, especially if they have other things they could be doing that are way more productive or beneficial (time with family, overtime at work, another hobby that could make more money, and so on). I'm sure a lot of it comes down to willpower too, but making a big VN is a time sink that could lead to no where, and no one realistically wants to carry that unless they're extremely passionate. Add to that the immense entitlement of users on this forum, and why would a dev want to keep coming back?

Yeah its easiere said then done, a few devs just need to learn how to look at the bigger picture, if a game can keep up 4-5 star ratings it normaly means game is great and most people like it, so the few that are just haters should really be ignored, one way could be to simply stay off the forums and keep to subscribers chats/forums and only check reviews.

And true blackheart is not for everyone but he has more followers and subs them most so hes doing something right, i personaly hated the first game truely did i gave it 1 star, but once the second game came out i loved the story and the twists even though i also hated the twists lol but that makes for a good game, to me hes really only gotten better and better, PA still one of my favorites.

I dont think luck plays the biggest role, if the game is great people will start signing up, problem is that it takes time so you have to either gamble and go all-in or just stick to it as a hoppy and not expect to make the big bucks like top games, even with slow updates you can make some money and gain subs (with a good game) just alot slower but that should be fine if its just a hobby, cant expect to get rich without going all-in, just like any other job where you work for years to get a promotion.
Also theres a reason why a ton of devs never comes to forums like this, haters and trolls tends to be loud so alot of devs ignores the forums and stick to sub chat/forums, if you only read in here lol then you would have 0 reasons to keep coming back, make a invite only discord for subs and your much better off and you can ban the trolls if one pops up.

1. One of my my partners ran the website so I can't speak to it. Probably cost money and so they cut it off.
2. Twitter, I am old and social media is not my thing tbh. I don't have the time right now to utilize it effectively anyway. Furthermore the political environment, it felt/feels safer to just stay away from it.
3. I have been working on the game in bits and pieces. Most updates, if any are on Discord. I've moved away from this forum in general because while 99% of comments are from really great, nice, decent and supportive people, it takes only one from someone not so great to ruin my mood and then what little time I have to work on the game becomes unproductive. I have pretty thick skin but coupled with IRL work being crapped on and IFL on here getting crapped on...it can be a lot :poop:
4. At one time with my job we were able to get out an update a quarter even before Covid. But that was a long time ago and 3 promotions ago.

In the end, everything really comes down to my job. I hope by second half next year we get to a more stable state and I can dedicate more time but it's honestly hard saying. Fingers crossed. Otherwise, we might be waiting ten years until I retire hahahahahahahaha!
As i always say rfl comes first all i can say is release when you can love this game.

True about Xitter and political. I got banned soon after Space Karen took over. But full on hate speech is just fine there, especially transphobic - often by the owner.

It's just a reminder that work is continuing.
Yeah but in 10 years after retirement who knows, not sure, but at my company work around new year always goes down, at least for me I guess if you are too high up you will have to be available all year round.

I think I have about 50 more renders to set. 85% of the script is with Blues for editing now. As soon as last 50 are done then the rest of the script goes out. If everything comes back clean, it's out to coding. Given Holidays, I am hopeful for 1Q26.
