I think he's too busy convincing himself he's the furry messiah.
I actually spoke, briefly, to him once. It was a small fight, he jumped on the fact I mentioned I can be nice even if I'm sometimes an asshole and assumed I was a "nice guy" (the bad kind).

Honestly, I knew he was kinda a dick but I'd assumed he was just jaded like me and people had overexaggerated. But I'll be the first to admit I was probably wrong with that assumption. Pity really, cos his girlfriend is a damn sweetheart.

Unfortunately he is one of those artists where I have the "can't stand the person, love the art" issue. He's always been one of my favorite artists because of the stuff he produces, but damn, you couldn't pay enough me to have a conversation, even in text online, with him. To be fair I don't think he started out that way, but rather was made worse by a combination of fame (within the fandom anyway) and... well, other things I'd rather not go into here.

In any case, just further proof that unbearable/awful people can still make great stuff.

All that said, maybe we should keep the thread on the topic of the game itself. Which looks intriguing, but I sadly do fear it'll be another one that most likely will get maybe one remotely substantive update a year at best, then be abandoned after a few years. But what can I say? I hope to be proven wrong. At least the art style and animations are good. And I'll admit the escape mechanic, if a bit overly difficult and frustrating currently, is at least interestingly different from your usual "mash back and forth to break free" found in most games of this type.

All cynicism aside, I do really want this game to succeed and be great.

Enter two portals. If you start on one, you gotta go to a portal in the other. Basically, go in the portal on the next level after going in the first portal.
Yeah, I got it working after several tries, it seems random though ‍

Yeah, sorry about the tangent, I was originally talking about the game (well, complaining about slow progress if I'm honest). :p

Also, the escape mechanic is probably one of the few things I like about this, but between the painfully slow progression of the game and how little content there is (plus, V2 ran on my laptop, V4 just crashes like V1 did. -_-), I'm not expecting much anymore. I honestly miss the original BBS concept, that was fun to play as it brought back Streets Of Rage vibes in me (and had better porn in my opinion).

At least this isn't as low as yandere sim. Be honest in the slightest. There's differences.

One of my suspicion about the time it takes is that they're shading the darn thing. Also doing it in extra high resolution, which in no way helps performances.
There could be other things in the background like their dev not being fulltime and whatever.
I didn't hear much in terms of drama yet, so that's a good thing. the first game only took months before it was riddled with drama.

The reason I'm so volatile is quite frankly because of all things, the game doesn't unpause properly.
Like, I press esc, then I press esc again to unpause, and it jams.
I haven't programmed anything in 5 years but I feel like this is incredibly simple stuff that you should not get wrong. And for how bad YanSim is, to my knowledge, the pause/unpause buttons do in fact work.

From what I've been reading on the patreon updates, there has been a bunch of drama already, they replaced the lead developer by the end of 2019 but hired him again when the new developer couldn't keep up with their deadlines and with the huge amounts of bugs the game has right now they are changing the physics engine, going from BOLT scripting to Rex Engine, so the next update might take even longer than usual.

By the way, version 0.4.1, that fixed some bugs in the game, has been available since February 11 but wasn't uploaded here.

Thank god. The physics right now just doesn't work if it doesn't reach the flawless framerate. The AI also needs the framerate to be high to actually work. Which is weird.
It just snaps the player to the floor and rarely allows liftoff.

I find it odd how some games, even when developed using the same engine (like Unity), don't work on Linux. For the most part, Unity is a Linux-compatible tool... some games even run just by launching the exe of the "Windows version" after flagging the file to be ran as a program. Others, can't even get them to work with wine.

This games is one of the latter...

I also find it kinda weird how some people who develop these things never bother compiling for linux or mac, yet others can do it with every single release like it's nothing.
