This was only my 3rd "Completed" AVN, and I now understand why folks complain about other titles that end abruptly without proper epilogues. The wide variety in final story lines for each has been a nice surprise.
I think I've hit 10 different endings now. It almost felt bad to go down a couple of the paths. Causing Heidi and Athena to split felt so wrong, regardless or which one I was picking.

Exactly this, thats purely my main reason why Athena and Heidi's solo route/ending is at the absolute bottom.
Tho one thing that kinda slighly bothered me was that in Heidi's solo route Athena left same as Heidi did in Athena's solo route. But the thing is, Athena and Heidi aren't the same person at all. I feel like Athena wouldn't care as much as Heidi did for going said solo route. But i guess thats just to make them slightly similar in that regard. As you do infact break up an not official relationship but just 2 girls having fun.
I don't remember the exact statement, but on the Heidi solo path, I thought Athena expresses regret at not making them an official item. I kind of felt it was the same regret from Heidi. You get the impression Athena has some past issues with commitment, and the both of them pretended they weren't an official couple until that moment the MC comes between them.
I originally thought the opposite, that Heidi would have been less impacted than Athena, so I was surprised she left the letter instead of saying goodbye to her face.

I mean, Heidi is literally the reason why MC is there because she picked him to be her toy. Other than that there were more impact when you were following Athena's solo route compared to Heidi's.
In one instance when MC and Athena is outside in snow after their sled ridding. We can see Heidi looking at them in a saddend expression. Whilst something like that never happend when you were follow Heidi's path. Athena was just Athena in her room gaming not giving a fuck. Thats why i really think its weird how Athena acted.

Athena definitely has some issues with commitment and showing emotional vulnerability. That's one reason it takes much longer to get intimate with her compared to Heidi. If you think about how Athena behaves, she's puts on a persona of emotional coolness at first and quick to assume MC is perving when he gets locked out. But then when she actually trusts you, she lets sure that shell and is actually very romantic and adorable.
The impression I got is that it hurts her as much, but she's not liable to show it until it becomes unavoidable. She obviously trusts Heidi, but wasn't yet comfortable enough to really say how much their relationship means to her until it's too late.
If you really push Athena away, there is a scene where MC and Heidi are having sex upstairs, where Athena peeks in the door, looks a bit sad and closes the door. The next morning I thought it was clear Athena was upset but trying to mask it. You even get an "It's fine."
At the it's been 7 weeks recap, if you aren't pursuing Athena it says she has been hiding in her room gaming, and my impression of her facial expression is sadness.

The patch isn't working for me.
First, there's no right clicking and downloading the patch, so what I did was copy the full document and pasted the patch contents on a notepad and saved as "patch.rpy" and switched type to all files, then saved it in game folder as it should be, but she is still referred to as cousin.

I would have said no (to the bitching), but the devs definitely didn't make that patch ... in fact, they frequently express confusion whenever anyone does ... so you throwing that out there raises suspicions towards your own motivations ...
