so this is the only game of Megrim on here how sad. this dev does have good games but i am sure if there were others there links are now longer useable

You'll need to be a bit more specific... I do not remember any cave in the forest that required any special access.

When I defeated the final boss, I noticed there were still scenes in the gallery that I hadn't unlocked, so I looked for a save file with everything unlocked. But I saw that when the save loaded, it was in an area known by that name, and I got curious about how to get there in my own game.

That cave is on the map I have shown on the spoiler above. You can access through any of the several entrances across the map.
To access the forest you need to do the intermediate missions on the "work shop" (help the alchemist)
