should trigger a cutscene when you go to the left side of the shrine (inside). you should see hisame's ghost and a set of stairs.
Thank you! I could never trigger it and had to reload a previous save.
As it turns out, it seems the final warning before invading the castle locks away some events like this one - and in a way that doesn't even let you pay for gold in the recollection room.
Reloading a save before the final warning let me activate Kizuyo Shrine just fine, but it's especially aggravating as it's one of the true ending's conditions (along with the two bells). It means I'll have to do the entire castle again. Meh.
Btw anyone know the difference between true end and normal end? this makes me want to play the first game.
Not sure, but in the end I had (both bells, but I didn't clear the tower's events)
Honoka did manage to go back in time with the other two, but just killed Basara/Ryuya, then a very short fast forward 10 years later, and the end - back to title, no credits.
EDIT: Well, I have an answer now.
Once you begin the final preparations,
all events related to Mizuki, Hisame, Yae and Chizuru will expire. Watch for the "some events will be locked" message.
If you didn't get the Memory of Sin by then, you
will be locked out of the true end, because this one cannot be obtained with gold in the recollection room. PakoPako 4 will also expire, for some reason.
The final dungeon,
Abyssal Labyrinth 1-4 and Throne Room are the exact same regardless of whether you have the Memory of Sin or not.
Don't forget to go back to
Labyrinth 3 for a Chizuru scene.
During the first final fight,
the two extra bells allow Yae and Chizuru to join you.
If you don't have the Memory of Sin,
Honoka will kill Ryuya and Basara at the end of the first battle. The normal end is just a quick flash forward to Honoka 10 years later, with no CG, little to no text, and no credits.
If you have the two extra bells and the Memory of Sin,
Mizuki will stop Honoka from dealing the final blow at the end of the first battle, and reveal another boss. Yae and Chizuru won't join directly, but Mizuki will. Reducing Ryuya's HP to 0 will net you an instantaneous bad end and let you retry.
There is no New Game Plus, regardless of whether you triggered the Normal or True end. You will be sent back to title and reload the last save with nothing new added or unlocked.
There's not much to do in endgame besides unlocking the rest of the scenes. There's a level 99 boss (where Mewtwo is, if you played Pokemon RBY), which lets you choose 1 of the 3 best elemental spells, but by this point they're not exactly useful.
I am still missing the owl, I think it's the Friday one but I don't know where, and the two other starters. Can you get the two other starters?
Also, was this the actual true end...? Because the last scene with Mizuki can only be unlocked
after saving for the last time, so the recollection room cannot have it.
