Giving away dozens of caches that you have to open 1 buy 1 instead of just giving bullet/med kit/food directly is straight up sadism
a cache of bullets gives randomly from 20 to 50 bullets, of course there is logic in this, but with regards to first-aid kits and food, I don’t understand the logic, they all give 3 each, mb depends on luck MC
Well, obviously you have a higher variance this way, but if their goal isn't to make it too random then they may as well just give 1750 bullets directly, or something like 1500 to 2000 (because it's very unlikely you'll get much more or less with 50x 20 to 50).
No point in making it annoying just for it to be "a bit random but not too much". Or at least if they're gonna give a lot of caches, make something to use them all at once.

Why can't I move my saves from the old file, my old file was version 0.31 does that make a difference?

Overwriting the save should work. If not, you may have to start a new game.
