I see this has the female protag tag but is it possible to play from a feminine perspective? Based on the description it doesn't seem so but descriptions can be misleading.
you are right: that tag is quite misleading, actually only the interlude (a short chapter that serves as a prologue to the third season) has the female protagonist

everything else in the game has the same male protagonist

Interesting, thoughtful characters - yes
Fascinating story yes
Plot holes are minimal. And I analyzed them in this thread.
The representation of young men is good - especially the DIK group - each character is a personality with its own character, especially they were revealed in the second season.

It's called opinion, man. Your point of view is nothing more than subjective, just like mine. There can be no truth here, we are not discussing algebra. This is art and there can be no single truth here. The fact that you do not like writing in BaDIK is nothing more than your subjective opinion.

If we compare your view with the objective reality, which is formed by the majority, then your point of view becomes even more subjective. And you are doubly mistaken if you say that the popularity of this game is due only to hot scenes. Because in many games there are high-quality hot renders. The description of Being a DIK in short is: "Went in for the porn, stayed for the story"

Popular = good. Yeah. I guess 50 shades of gray is one of the greatest novels of all time.

Guys, you are just looking for excuses for DPC's bad writing.

Lily being a cop? Really? A girl that works full time in a strip club, is about 20 or 21 years old, buy drugs for her and the other strippers, and ask MC for a few bucks for having sex with him? :WaitWhat:

Quinn allowing only the MC go to her room to fuck? A room that looks like a whorehouse, leopard sheets, sex toys, candy and booze included? Really? I don't think Quinn would do a lot of money only with one regular client. If Quinn made "the offer" to MC, you can think the she made the same offer to Derek and probably Caleb and the other DIKs and alpha wannabees. For sure, the other DIKs and the alfas too the year before. Quinn barely knows MC when she proposes the "restaurant deal" to her. He's not special for her. It´s something that she does with every fresh student she met since last year at least. Only that way Quinn's business has sense. It DPC pretends that we think otherwise, it's awful writing.

By the way, Quinn doesn't kiss guys because she's totally straight. She fucks with girls because business or to manipulate them to include them into her "restaurant" (Riona and Camila), because it's kinky, or just because this is a porn game and all girls being lesbian is like MC having a magic cock, a cliché of the genre. But she knows there is no risk for her to fall in love with a girl. No problem if she kisses them. But she knows she could fall in love for a boy, and she doesn't want to. Bad for business. That's why she doesn't do "boyfriend stuff", like kissing or "pijama parties", with boys. Except the MC, of course. Haven't you see "Pretty Woman"? DPC has copied that from that movie. Julia Roberts doesn't kiss men because she doesn't want to get too attached to them since they are only clients, and that's how they must remain. But then she meets MC, I mean Richard Gere, the start behaving like lovers, and you know what happens, at least in Disney version of the script. The ending of the original one was different.

And Heather knows about the drugs and says nothing about it because of Tommy, but I don't think she knows about prostitution. The same could go for Elena. Why a girl would stay in a sorority that could end up (and probably will be) being a national scandal and ruin her reputation even if she's not prostituting's herself, if she's not into that business?
Lily Sucked my mcs dick and let me cum on her pussy for free. I didn't even need to pay her anything on the preps party. Then I hard sex twice with her later on. Once on the hots party then at the strip club. These 15yo kids that doesn't know anything about life thinks she can be a cop lol.

I read some of your comments, but I couldnt reply untill now. I agree with most stuff you talked about Maya, Sage etc. About some stuff that you believe that wasn't written well. But there were some stuff that I disagree with you. First you were talking about how Sage changed from one thing to another in 2 months. I believe that from the beginning of this VN untill when the DIKs starts to rebuild their mansion it took a year at least in game time. But even if it was only 2 months, that are stuff that happens on someone's life that can make they change the way they see things. I could give many examples but I won't right now.

Another thing you should keep in mind is. The way you usually see someone from the moment you first met them is not really the way they trully are. I saw you judging Sage and Quinn, saying they kind of changed the way they were from season 1 to season 8. But on season 1, MC knowledge about these girls were totally superficial. Now at season 8, he already built a relationship with some of them, so he could see other sides that they keep hidden or they don't show to everyone. Or Maybe it was just you, the MC, who didn't know, because you never had a change to get to know them before. Sometimes they haven't changed at all, it was you, who started seeing them differently, more in depth. Riona at the first glance was just a slut, who'd have sex for money to anyone who'd pay her. But now we see a lot more about her personality. In real life, I am not sure if you have ever paid for the services of a girl before. But I have, and sometimes it is just a one time thing, but sometimes, you may have a nice conversation with some of these girls and exchange numbers, then you find out that despite their line of work, they are just a normal girl, as much as you are or someone of your family.
I think you are judging too much some stuff and sometimes it is just you who doesn't have that much life experience to see that many of the things he wrote on his game can be totally normal in real life.

There are a lot of separate issues here. Sage doesn't offer to help Quinn because Quinn goes to great lengths to downplay her need for money. That part can't be chalked up to lazy writing, it's a well presented side-effect of Quinn's personality.

Sage being completely oblivious to Quinn's vice racket... that's more in the lazy writing zone. I can suspend my disbelief to a point; we've seen things Sage hasn't, and she has been distracted by the Chad situation. But there's a limit, and once it's clear she believes Maya's story there's no excuse for her to continue giving Quinn so much free rein. This is made all the worse by the way the game portrays Sage as a wise leader - criticizing Rusty for living in a bubble and the like - when she has in fact been a horribly negligent president. To her credit Sage does realize she dropped the ball with Maya (especially if Maya asked to switch mothers), but she's still underestimating the scale of her screwup.

Now as far as DPC changing his mind about the HOTs, I strongly disagree. It seems very clear DPC always intended us to dismiss Sage as a vapid party girl early on, then realize her depths as we got to know her. That's a classic trope, and Sage is hardly the only person who's initial impression is misleading.

On Maya, you're welcome to dislike her, but dismissing her as waiting for a white knight to solve all her problems is flat out wrong. The whole point of joining the HOTs was to solve her problems on her own. Maya wouldn't even tell the MC about her problems until Episode 4 (if you're on her path) or Episode 6 (if you're not). Maya's mistake is looking for a get-rich-quick scheme to solve her problems in one fell swoop rather than attacking it over time. Maya is a very passive character and I'm as sick of her being stuck in the damsel role as everyone else, but she is not simply mooching off other characters.

You know, it occurs to me that this is exactly the sort of exchange that seems like an innocent joke about incest games now, but would take on a whole new meaning if it turns out Bella had a miscarriage. Just saying.

I'm pretty sure Tommy was going to say Maya was a friend of his step-sister. Josy's family had all met Maya, they just didn't know she and Josy were a romantic couple.

Acting Lessons. Sigh.

Okay, here's the thing. AL is a very well-crafted game with excellent character work and a lot of good bits. But it's also a fucking bait and switch. The game is not what it presents itself as for the first 6 chapters. The end of the game not only takes a famously dark turn, but that turn doesn't flow out of the events leading up to it. It just pops up out of nowhere and completely changes the tone of the game, practically wallowing in misery by the final episode. The endings can have some nice, bittersweet moments depending on how you play, but the emphasis is mostly on the bitter half.

As long as you know that going in, I think you'll be fine if you want to try it (assuming you can handle dark stories, obviously).
Aahhh. That's right. I forgot about that part. Thanks. I forgot Maya talks about Josy's family knowing that they're "friends" but not about the fact that they're in a relationship.

All your complaints before ...
I have a serious question: If you don't like the game (mostly of the writing), why are you posting in this thread? Wouldn't i be more satisfying for you to concentrate on games you like and ignore the ones you can't stand? Why using nerves by reading and discussing our opinions (and our fantasies/suggestions about the past and future storyline) when there is a big lake of games here at this board.

Yes, we know about the inconsistency in the story and about several other things beyond, they had been often discussed here and also will be in future. But we all wait for the next Ep to be released (hopefully this year, at least this decade), so we brainfuck about several things but not that serious that we complain (except the long developing time).

Isn't this a discussion about BaDIK? Why wouldn't they post here if it's about the game?

Congratulations as the #204,221 comment you've earned a free pass to hurt DPC's business for 24hrs
Drpinkcake does not claim any responsibility for any bans, loss of patreon membership, loss of content or loss of f95zone badik forum membership incurred by this free pass to hurt dpc's 24 hour access. Although the free pass may suggest you can share images, previews and wallpapers with drpinkcakes membership, this in fact bullshit and it is in fact hurting drpinkcakes business. The hurting of drpinkcakes business does not constitute sharing builds of the game but in fact crappy $30 previews of bella and jill aka goblin face that reveal nothing about the next episode. Please refer to banned members such as sombosteel and casmyr for more information. I would also like to remind everyone that dalli x called drpinkcake a piece of shit! Don't be that guy... Now I'll stop before this gets flagged as off topic

Is it possible to exchange the pass for a gift card instead? Preferably a Best Buy.

no its really not for the huge budget pls be honest
does it have good music yes
does it have good looking girls yes sure
good graphic sure

but common realistic and good writting? or logical acting cheracters ? good representation of young adults especially males? hots act different than jill in any way ? there are so many logic holes i am sorry they main reason why its so high is prob the sex scenes and good renders and a lot of people have a bonding with sage or jill i am sorry but this is the truth( a lot of guys have this harem/andrew tate fantasys that guys can cheat 100 times but if a girl does it oh dear )
You mustn't forget that these are all still school children. So these aren't finished adults yet. Most of them are at the end of puberty. Well, when i was that age, i was a lot immature than most of the ingame characters. I don't know how it was/is with you people. But it was only in the course of my working life that i grew to the social maturity that i have today. And it is precisely these standards that you have to apply in this game.

There really are logical gaps, no question. However, the game is not finished yet. There can still be a lot of story that explains most of it. So no, the game isn't as badly written as many here claim

I wonder why Maya and Derek never mention their mom. This is a huge flaw in the story, in my opinion: MC NOT asking Maya "what about your mom? does she know? how did she react?" after she talks about her dad and her relationship with Josy, and Maya never talking about her mother. Unless she's dead, of course.
Maya tells MC that her second name is her grandmother's name, but she never hinted or mentioned her mother. I think this is a DrPinkCake's mistake.

On any path MC ruin Tybalt a little (or a lot :KEK: ) and this may ruin the Maya's chances with Burke (I mean free tuition of course:BootyTime:). That's the basic cause of panic (MC realized he may ruined Maya's chances already), all other are just pile up.
I just realized that actually, I kept forgetting that Tybalt’s their son and MC pranking and mocking him may already jeopardize Maya’s chance.

I don't really see the purpose of nitpicking a porn story, and a lot of the points being made here aren't really that good, just throwing stuff at a wall to see what sticks. What exactly are you trying to prove here, that the story isn't perfect? It's not like you're going to find Shakespeare writing porn for patreon cash. Great writers aren't that easy to find nowadays, especially when entertainment is so saturated with trash writing.

So imagine being this smug about tearing down the writing of an amateur porn VN. Go write your own if you're so knowledgeable about writing, and let the people who like BaD enjoy it, even if the story isn't perfect. And if you have some actual constructive criticism them go bring it up with the writer, because what people are doing here just sounds like "stop liking what I don't like".

Also, what's with people expecting dumb inebriated teens to act like rational fully grown adults? Even most adults don't act in a perfectly rational matter. Having people do dumb stuff isn't "bad writing", it's just people being stupid, as they have been for thousands of years. I guess God is a terrible writer?

So, Maya being proactive consist in waiting that the HOTs solve her problems, and waiting that MC helps her to pass the worst tasks to become a HOT...
Maya can pass the HOT Scavenger Hunt with or without the MC's help, so she's clearly not waiting for him. And she's no more waiting for the HOTs to solve her problem then she'd be waiting for an employer to solve her problem if she got a job and paid off her loan in increments (as she should be doing).

Again, you are conflating Maya making bad decisions with Maya sitting on her ass and doing nothing.

Maya doesn't tell MC about her problems, but she involves him into her problems anyway since the infamous night she wakes up him to go to the maggots party and the cum-petition. She don't even need to tell him clearly about her problems, just need to play the cart of damsel in distress and emotional blackmail. And DPC doesn't even allow the player to say to her "it's your problem and I have my onw ones, let me alone, please" even after she didn't tell him that she was into a relationship, with another girl, no less...
Umm, by that logic it was Quinn who involved the MC, not Maya.

Now it's true that the MC can't tell Maya to fuck off the instant he meets her, but that's part and parcel of writing a computer game; there have to be limits on what the player can do. (Though frankly even in a pen & paper game with a live GM, flagrantly ignoring plot hooks like that would still probably doom the campaign, or at least drive it into Darths & Droids style antics.) Either way, the MC doesn't actually *do* anything to help Maya join the HOTs unless you tell him to.

I will agree, however, that if the MC was rejected by Maya and Josy in Episode 4 it makes no sense for them to call him for help at the end of Episode 6 or join them to visit the Burkes at the end of Episode 8). DPC should have added alternative scenarios for people who want as little to do with the pair as possible. Criticizing the one-size-fits-all approach he took to maximize cliffhanger drama is definitely a fair knock on his writing.

Unlikable character (except, again, for the 3D model) for any player that is not a lesbian and feels somehow identified, or thinks (like apparently DPC does) that she's a poor victim of the "heteropatriarchy" (great theme for a fucking porn game ) and any negative trait must be forgiven to her. We are forced by DPC to pity and sympathize her. I don't pity Maya and don't sympathize her. I'm tired of that kind of stories in movies, TV series and even fucking porn games. Maya lives in 2019, not 1919. It's not such a great problem to be gay nowadays. There is no need in make that a secret in a modern university in USA. She's not a girl any more. If she has a terrible relationship with her father for any reason (I'm sure she's not the only one in B&R), she could get a job to pay her expenses, study something cheaper for now, and take responsibility about her own life. That way she wouldn't depend of her father (that of course has the right to choose his God over everything and can't be forced to like her own daughter and pay her expenses), or involve others in her problems. Everybody has problems, gay or not. It's artificial drama, as always with DPC.
Hey, you do you. But within the context of the game world, it is unquestionably a serious problem for Maya to be gay. If that annoys you, then by all means don't play the game. But it's DPC's call how his world works, and he laid this out clear and simple. It is not bad writing on DPC's part to tell a story that does not conform to your personal views. Nor is it bad writing for a shy, sheltered girl like Maya to not understand how to get a job and leverage the income to hire a lawyer and clear her debts (though it might be nice if her friends explained the possibility to her).

If you want to complain about something that IS bad writing, focus on the inane financial gobbledygook that supposedly enforces Patrick's ultimatum. That makes no sense no matter how you slice it. Personally, I'm willing to roll with it because I otherwise like Maya and her story arc (though that arc is feeling rather flat at the moment), but you obviously have no such inclination.

The game universe is not identical to ours and resembles the US of the George W. Bush era , although the calendar is about the present. There is no cancel culture - feminists don't get expelled from college for trolling and can be argued with, promoting conservative views without the risk of persecution. Free speech is okay. Chad and Troy, Maya and Josy hide their relationship because same-sex couples are still condemned in their world. No one is fighting the "frat boys culture" - frats live and thrive, unlike our US, where they are subject to restrictions.
BaDIK is our world with the culture of the early 00s.
