Thanks to everyone who quoted my free roam post, you guys were too many to tag in the same post, but I read them all! You let me understand your perspective better now, but I still like to play free roams even after multiple times. But I gotta agree that if order of things done means you miss stuff that is not good and should be ironed out going forward. I'm sure it's not "gotcha" trap by evil dev, probably just hard thing to do with so many variations especially if once you code the game you have certain vision in my how things should go, but players of course always find a different way to do stuff eventually. In fact, I would like more cool free roam things added like that elusive piss sheriff - moment like that sticks with you for a long time and if it just happened every time in VN format it would not carry the same weight. Also stuff like catching someone cheating feels more impactful when you stumble upon them while opening room rather than it just happening (examples here are Bianca's husband cheating (free roam) vs Gordon seeing Beth kiss another dude (automatic)). As long as phone have "map" on what is available to be done tho, I'm not sure I would like it as much if it was only self-discovery. So let's hope things are balanced like earlier chapters - some free roam, some chill VN plot with interesting choices. <3

I checked another similar game I play a lot and I have over 120 hours in that game on Steam. Together with what I played before getting the Steam version I must be at over 200 hours on that game and I have played Being a DIK at least as much, proberbly more, so that's the closest estimat for me. Over 200 hours.
I own Being a DIK on GOG but since music was cut from season 1-2 I keep playing the version from here from before that update.

The plot is centered on the girls from the sorority DIKs are friends with , MC doesn't live in the dorm, so he hardly knows them. The ground for getting to know them closely was not prepared, so there is no "you don't deserve my attention" here.
MC could be more friendly, though. He has canonically ignored Gina twice already. Once at mid-test and once at the Halloween party when he's dealing with Oscar. What does it cost him to wave to her? :ROFLMAO:

*Punches Oscar in front of Gina* "Oh, hi Gina. I hope you're enjoying the party!"
Where is MC's chivalry? After Gina sees such aggression, he should calm Gina down and make it clear that she is welcome and that she just needs to not call anyone a bitch and everything will be fine.

Seriously, though. He could have told the girls that everything was fine and that they could continue partying without any problems, politeness always.

My first ever playthrough was without mods, afterwards i kinda thought that you get better results with minigames (it was mostly about being able to "win" against caleb but wasnt even needed for that lol).

And all my 20+ playthroughs afterwards were with minigames enabled.

Some are okayish or even decentish, i like the party planning and mansion repair somewhat, liked brawler in the beginning too but meh.

A few days ago i did another playthrough without minigames and realised HOW MUCH MORE FUN it is without all of these annoying, repetitive, shitty low effort minigames :ROFLMAO:

I would turn minigames off, but the problem is:

With minigames on: you achieve or fail some goals based on how good you were on minigames (e.g. if you were good at mansion restoration, you save Rusty's car - and you need that for some content after).

With minigames off: whether if you achieve or fail those goals is either hardcoded, random selected, or depending on an apparently unrelated choice (e.g. with minigames off the only way to save Rusty's car is to turn down the VIP pass).

This is the most well known example of how DPC punishes who dares turning his amazing minigames off...

God knows what other content we can miss without minigames, so I prefer to play with minigames on, and just cheat on them! :HideThePain:

I hope Tommy kicked his ass after since I can't punch him myself on non-Dik routes. The behavior of a weasel who is nice and then turns coat and spouts some toxic bullshit while he was simply told other party was not interested is unacceptable, regardless who MC would be defending in such situation I would support it.

btw Gina is the girl that was double-teamed in dorm party in case some people forgot (MC can spy on her in one of the rooms, no further interaction)

He don't even know her, because they didn't interacted. I suppose he don't even know her name, like this thread for a long time.
What a pity, after all, the waste of a hot goth chick.

Why would you want the VIP pass? You like the oily manatee?

Tommy beats up Oscar if the MC makes the NEUTRAL choice (Oscar appears with a black eye in EP.10). If the MC makes the CHICK choice, nothing happens to him.

I didn't know that, what a joke!

True. I agree that sometimes the MC acts a bit rude. He's not a people person. I guess it comes from him being a loner before. But then again, he does have this clueless look.

My boy Tremolo knew what he was doing. He wanted Christie to hear that the DIKs had no drinks for the party just so he could embarrass Tommy in front of her. That's a cold-hearted move, that has to be the most gangster thing the MC has ever done canonically. :ROFLMAO:

Many people don't know, but Oscar's black eye was Tommy's fault and not MC's. If you look at the game code you will see the dialogue below:

Tiffany: And, oh! Tara's mad at you. *about Oscar's black eye
Tommy: I don't give a fuck if she is.
Tiffany: I'm just saying.

The condition for this dialogue to appear is for MC to have made a NEUTRAL or DIK choice. Proving that even though MC punched Oscar, the person responsible for Oscar's black eye was Tommy.

Yeah it is weird. I just deleted the folder after uninstalling, maybe there was something left behind that didn't get cleaned and so a complete fresh reinstall might fix that.

My best guess is that you didn't delete the persistent file in the automatic backup folder for Ren'Py games.

If you are on Windows, that folder is:

C:\Users\YourUserNameHere\AppData\Roaming\RenPy\YourGameNameHere-weirdNumberHere

You have to delete also this folder to do a properly clean install.

If you don't, you will see your old saves even if they are no more in your "game\saves" folder, and most of all, your old persistent file will still be effective. If something was corrupted in it, that's going to cause you problems.

This is why we have 15k pages of posts here, there is so much info to unpack in this game I wouldn't be surprised if there are still things undiscovered by general public. I remember the "Tara is mad at you" line, but I never really put it together why that is. I just thought Tommy was flirting with her or something.

Surely my least favorite female character.

But how am I supposed to know beforhand that:
a) the vip pass is actually a manatee pass
b) I have to refuse that to save Rusty's car, and saving Rusty's car is needed to have a lewd scene with Quinn
?

Besides, as I was saying, that's just an example I happened to learn. My suspicion is that there might be some other content locked behind apparently unrelated choiches... or even not reachable at all with minigames off.

DPC states this clearly at the very beginning.
