I don’t think she is divorced. (Possibly widowed). I think something traumatic happened, death of child, death of parent, death of husband. (Language she uses suggests husband is alive). I think someone died and Bella blamed her husband (rightly or wrongly) and time has passed and she has forgiven him. That doesn’t explain locked room, or creepy ‘hanging‘ army boots though.

I’ve suggested before her kid could have been sent to a military academy because Of husband and then died in an accident. So uniform is the sons.

MC is helping though not in the healthiest way. Bella is ‘the Ice Queen’ and yet MC has been able to get her to take care of him when he was drunk and upset. She also despite herself has a romantic evening with him in her study. If MC is played as a somewhat decent person, he flirts with her, jokes with her but also helps her round the house.

MC is helping her open up, and for whatever reason this kid has reawakened her sexuality. She obviously has a massive trauma, but until the secret is revealed there isn’t much more MC could do,

Maya isn’t spineless. The only people in the world who she knows love her is Josy and Derek. The rest of her family have abandoned her. That in turn has made her desperate. Perhaps you could say she is easy to manipulate.

This scene is when Josy shows up, and you choose to sleep in Bella apartment. (there are three choices: Derek, Sage, Bella) I always choose Bella. :p

I'm not part of the conversation, but if I can jump in for a bit I'd like to add something. Completely putting my bias for Jill aside, I understand her actions when I think about it from her perspective. In my first play through I was annoyed and pissed at her for snitching to the dean. But, we gotta remember she was probably not raised to want to be helpful towards others and gained that mindset on her own. If we go by her words during the bed scene with MC she seems to be trying to be more than what she was taught. If she was "self taught" in the ways of actually being caring towards others she might not fully understand boundaries (as we see by her losing control and having to be escorted out of the dean's office). Frankly, MC having someone that seems to care about his well being is a plus not matter how overbearing it can be. Some people need those types of friends or lovers in their lives.

her parents didn't abandon her father is just overbearing and doesn't support her lifestyle choices
compare that to MC who didn't have a mom , grew up without friends and being bullied , too poor to afford a TV but still honest and trusting after all that
so yes she is spineless or designed that way to cater to certain folks who likes damsels in distress

infact all the LIs are

josy , the cute girl next door that you crush on but too chicken to ask out

Sage , the prom queen , head cheerleader who dates the biggest jocks
