now i have a question! Flesh or Flush? so this would be true filler but would add to the lore of the story!
When 2 tribes go to war: the DIK ́s history - An anthropological analyses of the Jock DIK feud!
Part: 1 Rusty choice
The important question here for the story is to analyse why Mr. Russel Burgmeister would
choose his brothers over a well suited and properly matched romantic equal in the person of Miss Jill
Royce!
The way Rusty sees the situation at the time of him dating Jill he put his entire social status and
therefore all his social currency on the line after being diminished and ridiculed by the Alpha Nu Omega
fraternity! To be able to recover his good name he needs allies he already has his bodyguard for which
he pays in beers and cigarette packs, but he needs capable people around him that is the sign of a good
leader!
So even though he should have told Tommy and Vinny to piss off and respect Jill he saw an
opportunity to heal the rifts on the group of 4 founders! Without unity inside a group there ́s no way they
will ever be able to take on the preps much less the Jocks.
Probably and considering that Magnar is a big fella at that moment they could even be overrun
by the tri-betas just because of their numbers and of course intelligence had they been slighted enough
to plan a revenge as we ́ve seen with Bert and Derek the tri-betas are hardly sheepish cowards and they
will defend themselves!
On their side they got the mansion and institutional support of the college to be able to get away
with booze and partying on their mansion private grounds! However, its visible by the way that Tommy
explains about the Dorm/student parties that they started low and had to grow into the Kings of B&R as
we see them at the beginning of the game having massive parties with ratios of 3-4 girls for every dude
in the house including the best sex access of all in the Hots!
As stated in college people don ́t consider yet money the best evaluation of someone’s worth as
more mature people might since when you ́re mature and have wealth it means you either earned it or
where at least wise enough to keep it!
Unlike when you ́re young where having wealth just means you have rich parents and you ́re
good at nagging at their heart strings or ambitions towards social status to make your parents cough up
the money as you can clearly do as the MC towards your father in no more than 3 occasions including on
the initial one interaction with your own father!
So how to acquire social currency? By throwing the best parties around and being surrounded
by good charismatic people who will in turn attract more people thus giving you plenty of connections
and allowing you to choose who you allow into your life making you someone valuable to meet and be on
their good side.
So the best parties we can assume that either Vinny or most likely Nick make some sick music
mix’s for the parties (later on being replaced by Leon or Jaime) Vinny seems extremely charismatic
Tommy ensures by his personality and fighting prowess that people will think twice before messing with
your group and Russel provide the venue and the “honey” in the form of Booze (perhaps Vinny and
Tommy were also helping on that domain by supplying the drugs for the people of culture)!
But if the group breaks as it seems to be when we see the Tommy Flashback about his relation
with Vinny then all the investment that Rusty as made will be wasted and therefore when confronted
between losing a “maybe” girlfriend and winning a family he chooses family!
Even the DIK motto “family comes first” rules and mentality ensure unity and willingness to stand
by your brothers whatever might happen!
For Rusty is not about losing Jill it ́s about losing his social standing and have his name be
shamed if his project fails, it’s about everything that defines his personality at the time of the DIK
creation! Somehow is the same as Chad having to prove his manliness and be the top dog amongst the
Jocks or else, he is nothing!
So Rusty being extremely young and having an Axe to grind as no other option since that’s where
he bases his entire personality and who he is! Unlike what we see at the begging of the game where he
is more solid on his position and has matured and therefore no longer needs to defend his position so
aggressively! Rusty is asserting himself into the hallway of adulthood and how he chooses to portray
himself defines who he will become!
Part: 2 The history before the arrival
With that set-in motion we must also understand a saying “2 guys will mug one while 5 will think
twice before messing with 2”! It’s a primate instinct (since primates can’t count but they can evaluate
odds and threats)
The Dik history is clear as being a fraternity with 2,5 years unlike other fraternity who have
decades of existence means they lack the status! So, their 1st attempt goes into trying to byte more than
they could chew by going straight to Sage and be immediately put on their place in the social hierarchy
of College! Having failed that they recruit 2 more maggots who can give them the attractive points
towards girls and a steppingstone on the social college hierarchy!
They started by going to dorm parties getting to know people (mainly girls) to set up their
debutante appearance on their mansion, since there was no organized resistance as probably the only
fraternity on those parties where the tri-betas!
Once they establish themselves, they went for the Alpha Nu Omega spot on the hierarchy and
probably they didn ́t get much push back since the preps are not playing that game.
They are aiming for their future success and therefore whatever girls that used to join the preps
parties moved over to the DIK mansion because they can get more fun and Rusty is even better than
any of the regular preps so as long as Rusty doesn ́t get attached to any girl the ones who are into that
mentality will prefer DIK over preps!
And so, the war begins... there ́s an established tribe of primates who claim the most fertile and
lush hunting grounds and there ́s a new tribe who starts to threaten their social position!
The new tribe does not have the strength to challenge them yet, but the Jocks can see how they
grow and start nibbling at their territory probably with the entrance of Quinn and Rhyona into the hots
which are more amenable to money instead of social standing and therefore are willing to trade off HOT
status towards the ones who pay them the most!
While this starts to evolve there ́s a spring break where Rusty unknowingly shoots the first
shoot of this war (right down Arieth ́s throat) once the rest of the DIK ́s discover they know they are in
dangerous territory the Alphas have 6 members the Diks only 4!
When they compare strength, they only have 1 warrior which is Tommy and 2 others who might
hold their ground in Rusty and Vinny since nick is average! Then they start counting the Jocks strength
troy is probably equal to Tommy if it comes down to violence it would be disaster and defeat just Chad
alone is “enough” if you count Alex and Troy and the other 3 Jocks who train to stay in shape the DIK ́s
can ́t handle the heat!
The Jocks keep their social currency by strength and the threat of violence as all bullies and
people who rely on strength always do! The Jocks have no idea of what’s going on but they can smell
the smoke in the air that announces a fire is at large and therefore they start walking around in groups as
to prevent them from being ambushed and outnumbered at the start of the game you always see them in
a pack! (the wolf at the top is always afraid of where the next threat might come)
while you see Jacob walking around alone meaning that the Dik ́s don ́t feel threatened while the
Jocks are nervous! The same can be seen with the preps, males can sense when violence is in the air,
they feel the danger and therefore they stick together and hire a private security guard for their mansion
(probably Rusty should have gotten the hint and install some cctv at least)
So Rusty unknowingly opens the hostility but it doesn ́t really matter it ́s the typical Thucydides
trap when a new power is growing in the influence area of an established power war is inevitable even if
both try to avoid it, out of the 16 situations that have been historically recorded 14 ended in wars (one of
those missed was the USA vs UK although when that one failed it was quickly followed by WW2...)
So, as it fallows the spring break, the DIK decide to make a run for new maggots if the Arieth stuff
is discovered there might be a confrontation and who do they recruit? Jacob who is big and buffed(also a
painter so a guy who can attract the more sensitive kind of girl) and a guy that shows no shame or fear in
walking around naked which is kind of threatening(and attracts the psychotic girls)!
As Jacob tells our hero the dik ́s got your back but don ́t push your luck!
But that’s exactly what Vinny does by once again going after the Jocks VP girl, when discovered
by the DIK`S, problems arise within the group. That puts the brotherhood in danger of forcing a
confrontation with the Jock ́s and that’s where I imagine Vinny left.
the Diks wouldn ́t have survived as just 3 members they had more treasure (girls who attend their
parties/social currency) then their ability to protect it and a slight on their honour would have been noted
so JB and Jacob joined and Vinny pushed his luck!
Tommy feeling diminished (after a confrontation with Vinny where Vinny decides to leave) goes
out drinking and that’s where he does the screw up that is told in the story and “starts” the Jock Dik feud
officially! So, they do another quick run for brothers in the next semester and that’s where Leon and
Jamie join (note that it ́s the only semester run for members all others where annually)!
As its stated they already partied with the Dik ́s before so the diks knew that they would hold their
ground and help out if they were willingly to still party with the Dik ́s in the middle of a “feud” and they
quickly need the numbers, furthermore Jamie (who admits they joined right after Vinny left so he barely
knew him) is a poet and Leon (who keeps in shape by tracking almost daily) knows his “interwebs” so
new hunting grounds (swyper) and more access to music who can enhance their parties!
That’s when the Jocks attack Tommy which ends up with Troy taking the blame, and thus, the
Tommy attack although being a loss makes the Jocks weaker and the balance of strength is more equal
thus putting a pause on the feud for now!
That’s when JB and Tommy finally conquer their HOT girls and they definitely swing Quinn into
their side making the HOT (the lush green hunting fields) finally at their reach, not because they beat the
Jocks, but because the Jocks screwed up, without a proper warrior as Troy and with just Chad and Alex
being monsters they are outnumbered 5 to 7 and the Dik ́s got 2 warriors on their side with Tommy and
Jacob!
Not that such odd ́s allow the DIK`S to be the new kings but on those odd ́s the DIK`S have a
chance of fighting them off even if Chad and Alex are superior warriors/specimens in terms of combat!
That battle is not lost Dawe is still dating Arieth and Chad the true monster is still dating Sage and
thus even though the Dik ́s finally got a chance at the best hunting grounds the Jock ́s are far from
defeated as our story begins!
Part: 3 – after our arrival
As our story begins the Dik ́s show much respect for our hero because he is a threat to the Jocks
and shows no fear even in a 5 to 1 situation, when he mocks Chad!
Although Troy has been kicked out of the Jocks they don ́t know if he won ́t stand with them if a
confrontation arises so the news that our hero “beaten” up a former Jock and that Troy and the Jocks are
no longer the same is indeed good news that ingratiate our hero towards the DIK ́s.
Their other option is Derek which also fallows another well-known DIK tradition a sensible dude
and a total asshole who work together and will sacrifice themselves for their brothers thus unity and
ability to attract more lush green hunting grounds! (Nick and Vinny, Rusty and Tommy, Leon and Jamie,
Jacob and JB are a mix of those qualities and so is the MC and Derek)!
The other situation that is mad respect for us is our Hero beating up Chad the Lion and getting
him kicked out of the Jocks! Chad the Lion will still stand with the Jock`s so there ́s no loss in “strength”
but their organisation has been mauled while the DIK ́s just got an unlikely monster there ́s a new
balance of power, the Hot ́s will soon swing over towards the DIK`S for sure...
And then chapter 5 arrives, the Jock ́s feeling threatened and fighting for their life (thus their
approach at the mansion to claim the HOT`S) since their honour is no more recruit Caleb the Tiger and
John the panther (the buffed up black new Jock pledge), the war is back on!
7 vs 9 the Jocks have Caleb Chad John and Alex + 3 gym dudes against our Hero, Tommy and
Jacob + 2 above average dudes and 4 regular dudes! Whatever happens a HOT pursuit can only end in
violence because that’s the only way the Jocks know how to address problems!
Part: 4 – the conflict resolution
The way I see it by chapter 8 we will be playing a new minigame of 10 Jocks (troy and Chad
return and Rich of the preps join them to make 10 warriors) vs 10 DIK ́s (Vinny returns to stand by his
brothers) and 1vs1 until only 1 of the team members stand in the hexagon having the other 10 members
of the other team defeated!
1vs1 where after a win you can replace the fighter so he can recover some health after the battle!
Meanwhile the HOT ́s DIK ́s Jocks`s and tri Betas set up a betting booth (50% for the frat houses 50% to
the final winner) while the school makes it a “public school event” where the school gets 25% of the
ticket sales 25% goes for headhunting prizes and 50% to the Fraternity who wins! That’s how you get the
money for the windows, fighting prizes and gambling on your skills (or against your skills)!
That’s how I see the DIK vs Jocks war of a thousand years coming to a head! In the end
depending on how you treat the Jocks you beat, peace will be established, or a new reason for future
feuds will be born on the hexagon!
