I started viewing his status updates in Feb which was around 3 months after Ep6 release. Since I didn't follow his status updates before that, did he always give a proper status update regularly, after a new episode was released?

I am just guessing but maybe he doesn't have much info to give right now cuz he is just focusing on making the new content. Since he mentions that it is a new environment he is working on and unexpectedly it's talking time for rendering the animations, maybe he himself doesn't have the idea?

Maybe he is trying something new with animations? for eg, The Madame and Lily body animations were totally a new concept.

It took 5 months for ep7 and the last 2-3 months were full of Info about how much he had done for ep7. Maybe he will give tons of Info in upcoming months and I hope he does

since chapter 5 I would say the updates have been weekly, before that I can't say but I think it was the same.
for chapter 8 they are rather short and vague, seeming more like a due act than real information

this overview of the characters was often used in chapter 7, even on Lana in the flashback to create suspense about Lynette's return...

probably DPC tends to get bored and that's why lately he tries to introduce new things in every chapter (minigames, fast navigation in free roams, mobile phone, 2d renderings etc...)

you have to play the whole free-roam, you can only skip the dialogues, but you have to go through all the stages.

With free roam you just use the bottom right navigator to jump quickly between rooms (if you're talking episode 6 or 7 free roam) and you can still zip through the dialogue with the TAB key.

For other free roams (like the library and the Prep's mansion) you still have to navigate your way around, but once again, you can speed up the dialogue.

The good thing is, only dialogue you have already seen is sped up, if you make a different choice and new dialogue comes up, as long as you haven't got "unseen text" highlighted in the options, it won't skip through anything you haven't seen before.

It's easy enough to check, just do a thread search for "status update" by N7. There will probably be a few gaps where someone else posted the update, but should be good enough to get a sense of the frequency.

Why would he do that? The reason any developer gives an update is so you get a feel for how the development is tracking. You're suggesting he stopped giving updates because it allowed people to see how the development was tracking?

But I do feel his updates lack a sense of enthusiasm. I have this dread feeling that DPC is starting to lose momentum. It's completely unsubstantiated, but I feel it nonetheless. Hopefully Ep8 proves how seriously off the mark I am here.

If this goes past season 4, then we add years on to the development cycle and goodness knows how many gigs. Shit, players will be able to finish real college before the game is over. And my big worry is episode dev times extending well beyond 6 months. As much as I enjoy BaDIK, I feel like a season 5 (20 episodes) would just be dragging the story on unnecessarily. DPC does have a tendency to stretch out plotlines for longer than they need to be.

Can you imagine still no solid information on Bella's mystery by season 3 end? Or any revelation about the stalker/traitor? And Maya's tuition/daddy drama? Or if Jill is still a virgin by then? Personally, I'd like to see the game wrap up no later than season 4 end (episode 16) and then move on to DPC's next game after he has time to refresh. That is still many years away! I know a lot of people would like to see all four years of BaDIK college, but the game/setting might go stale by that point, especially if some of these mysteries aren't solved soon and new ones introduced.

I've had the same feeling. The updates have been less informative, certainly less so than for ep.7, and it's hard to pin down a reason for it. Maybe he knows there's still so much more to do and doesn't want to spell out that it's going to be an even longer wait (hope not).

Having said all that, there was the following very positive line from him at the beginning of July, which, if true, suggests he's still motivated and enthusiastic: "As always, I'll try to keep you updated to the best of my abilities. Every day I can't wait to wake up to continue working on the game, which accurately describes the state of the game development."

Can't ask much more than that, can we.

We're talking about BaDIK, you're on some weird AL tangent. AL is trash. I hammered the space bar through most of the final third of that game. Bored out of my mind. Zero feels because I disliked the story and characters. BaDIK is so far from AL that I can't even believe it was made by the same man.
