My point was that contrary to your claim he can do something about it, but chooses not to. Between preventing Maya from interacting with a boy, and allowing her to continue her education, he prioritizes the latter. Which means Maya interacting with boys isn't as much of a tragedy for him as you make it out to be.

Am not saying it's going to be entirely smooth sailing and yes, Patrick will obviously prefer Maya to remain virgin (as far as he believes) until marriage. But he doesn't act all hysterical about it, the way he goes about Maya being a lesbian.
