That's why I'm asking, not stating it. Quinn mentioned since the beginning they need the restaurant to get enough funds to run the HOTs. It's also said a couple of times during S1 that getting more girls will stress extremely on the budget.
Quinn in general has enough power (until M&J went to Ari instead of her with the proof) to stop girls from joining if they didn't want to.Hell, we even notice that if it was up to her especially Maya wouldn't become a fullfletched HOT.

I think it's just weird that with Tiff's mentality, she wouldn't become a HOT if it wasn't mandatory to become part of Q's restaurant during the year she tried to join.

Not really in her talks with tommy, the reason quinn is running the restaurant is due to the drug ring she is running as well.


During the talk with sage, she mentions that they get money from fees, sponsorships and being hired by preps and jocks.
Riona also adds to this in the talk where she gets sad that Quinn is using her as a fall girl for using up all the drugs.
MC also mentions that the HOTs work for their own expenses during his speech to the DIKS.


Normally, it would have been two HOTS (Mona and Camilla), but Maya got in due to the scholarship rumor, Lily due to DIK recommendation, Ashley was brought in and Josy because she is Tommy's sister.

I do and currently I think they're hot (Tara, Karen and Sally are among the hottest girls in BAD for me). During my college time however, almost nobody would like them. Tara would be considered too ugly, goths/emos were a big no no during my college time and almost nobody liked a "high maintenance" girl (at least that's what she looks like) as Christie.

Maybe college currently is different, but I'm telling how it was in the late 90s/early 2000s.
