Since this discussion is still going on, I find it curious one's deviant score (the TC points) is completely unrelated to returning to Zoey or not. There's only one affiliated with her, and it's very minor, so what's up with that? A mechanic dedicated solely to cheating/unfaithful behavior, but the option to return is predicated solely on your zscore, a totally separate thing.
Maybe Zoey will be the only girl we can actually leave someone for, everyone else is relegated to mere affairs/flings?

First, MC met Zoey in detention in high school and he's now a freshman in college. Plus she was gone to San Diego for more than a minute. However that doesn't really matter because you don't go see your ex when you're with someone else. Doing so sends a clear message that the "friend" (even though they were more than friends) is more important than the girlfriend/wife/whatever.Leaving everything else aside because it's been hashed out a plenty by now... Sage absolutely doesn't understand what she is talking about.
For a very simple reason: Sage apparently doesn't have even a single close friend who was her actual friend for more than a couple of years, nevermind one she'd have spent half of her childhood/teenage years with. She is unable to put herself into Fuckface's shoes here because she utterly lacks the needed frame of reference.
So she really doesn't understand what Zoey is to MC and how he feels about her. Because she doesn't know first thing about this sort of relationship.
So, she understands just fine. He's going to see his ex, that he had sex with, that he said was his first love, when it seriously bothers her. It doesn't matter if they were friends, it doesn't matter if they won the big game together and it doesn't matter what other excuse he can come up with to make it ok. It's not ok. It's rude, disrespectful, hurtful and selfish. If you wanna do whatever you want and ignore your partners feelings then don't be in a relationship.
TLDR
Partner's feelings > Rekindling relationship with ex

Well, it does come into play for some of the other girls, by dictating whether you can declare love for them and advance your relationship. In this manner it indirectly affects the Zoey thing too, potentially blocking you from returning to her. I think that's quite sufficient, and there's no reason to blatantly try and tie every single decision from now on to that score, including the situations where it doesn't necessarily fit.

MC wasn't leaving anyone. It was Jill/Sage who decided to ditch the MC to paint nails with her newfound girlfriend. This gave him the perfect chance to check on Zoey while he was still home. His only mistake was not alleviating his insecure GF's fears well enough. I'd honestly be pissed off if my partner couldn't suddenly trust me when I've never given any reason for it. In Sage's case, no matter if she claims it's Zoey she doesn't trust, it's actually the MC she has issues with. In reality she doesn't trust her BF to say 'no' should it come to the worst of it where Zoey tries to get him back.
