There's no intended canon route in the game. I feel that would be insulting to any player who prefers another route, and I never considered one branch better than the other. There are simply different ways to experience the game. That said, I think every player will have a route they feel is canon for themselves. I will probably have a route that I prefer slightly more than the other, too. Time will tell which one that is, but I wouldn't impose what I like more on players by calling it canon.

It is sort of a nul.argument though. DPC responded to someone saying that people will lose faith by saying "no they won't look at my Patreon numbers" despite the fact he's done it at a time when those numbers are going to be inflated given there has just been a major release

It's a bit of an arrogant response. He's basically saying the numbers don't show people loosing faith in me despite the fact that thanks to the release they may be exaggerated somewhat... In other words in doesn't matter if the numbers go down or not there's still sucker willing to pay however long it takes.

If there were other metrics on show or if they'd boasted about the pure financial metrics then sure, but saying how many patreon subscribers you have when that's the only reliable metric that exists to demonstrate that more and more people are actively supporting the game is fair play here.

Even when the numbers inevitably drop next month due to the release window passing it'll still be an upwards trend.

I think I'm just really bored of seeing the same angry posters whining endlessly year after year about "stupid simps being milked" when everything about the development of BaDIK is the opposite of that. The actual production of renders has remained consistent as seen in mpa71's BigTable, the obvious growth in quality visually is plain as day, and there's been no typical BS moves like remastering old chapters before finishing the game or sudden delays and months of radio silence to deliver episodes that are the same length/detail as prior ones but suddenly taking months longer to put together.

I don't agree with all of DPC's choices with the game (60fps animations, the rather aimless nature of the Interlude etc) but I definitely can't say that they're not clearly deeply invested in creating the best possible AVN as they see it.

Then again, the value of a $ isn't really consistent. Sometimes it seems to be worth 1, sometimes 10 and other times 100 just to name a couple...

You're assuming a lot of things here that honestly I don't think would be the case. If DPC hadn't seen "growth" in supporters maybe we'd get episodes quicker but we just likely wouldn't have seen the computational-power related improvements that the growth funded (i.e. better GPUs for better quality renders etc).

Frankly out of almost all the AVN projects on the go on this site, this one is probably the one that'd still get completed even if the patreon popped at this point. For all their faults DPC is extremely committed to their "vision" and wanting to complete it.

Well I wouldn't say I hate her the most, but in terms of the categories you suggested Josy is certainly at the bottom of the list. Sorry Darkwen, but that girl to me is a walking red flag, brings nothing but toxity to the thruple with her jealousy and selfishness...

That being said, I like that il in Episode 10 and then more so in episode 11 she discovers she is essentially a crutch to Maya's Story and has none of her own. Its nicely done albeit a bit late. But the little growth she got here I like enough to see that she at least now knows her faults, or is coming to know them and a josy/MC relationship is at least possible. I still don't think the thruple is set in stone like, but one of the members has started on a 180 in character growth to not only be at least believable them two could survive, but accepting if she is not the girl chosen. She's a lot different than the Josy who gets rejected in Ep8 now.

What I mean is that for him to change anything in terms of development time, there would need to be serious dissatisfaction that would result in a drop in the number of patrons.
So far after the release of Ep.8, he's been on a stable plateau with small drops in the chart during the wait and jumps on releases. Only Episode 9 could make him check himself as not having lived up to the inflated expectations - his release figures were lower than the then-record-breaking Episode 8 - the party episode format is not something most players like. That is, if the majority of the audience is satisfied, there will be no changes.
