It's probably a very individual thing. I first started playing just before ep 9 came out. At first I didn't bother downloading S3 because it just had the interlude, but after playing S1-2 three or four times ep 9 was available. Waiting for ep 10 was agonising, but BADIK isn't the only game I follow and when I did the math on how much content ep 9 had compared to the time it was in development, I realised the guy is actually on the faster side of devs and until a certain point my impatience just wasn't reasonable. So I replayed the game looking for things I hadn't seen yet and spent time with some other games.
There's nothing like the feeling of getting a new update after mere three months and after being done with it... "That's it? It took this guy three months to make this? It's a decent game, but BADIK ep 9 is at least 30 times this. Actually ep 9 is bigger than this entire game... That this guy has been making for more than two years... Yeah, ep 10 deserves a bit more time."
Ep 10 came out and after a few months I made this account. Waiting for ep 11 was easier because of it, but it was still tough. When the waiting hit a full year I thought: "Okay, NOW the impatience is justified." and that's how I deal with it now. For about six more months the impatience isn't justified. For three months after that ep 12 isn't any worse than ep 11. By the end of that coping should be such a routine that waiting for ep 12 being even worse than ep 11 won't feel like that much of an agony.
It's definitely better to wait a little longer to get something worth player's time instead of bunch of rushed nonsense, but I wish DPC would at least give us something of substance in his weekly Status Updates, instead of:
I just hope he's not gonna come up with any new
challenges during the dev time once he fully upgrades his PCs, like making all animations 120 FPS
. On the upside, at least for me personally, there's still a lot of content to discover. I did all chick/neutral solo MG runs (Bella's three times IIRC, it was too captivating for me to go through it just once
), had myself a little break and then done a couple of different ones:
-Bella-over-Jill (with 'couldn't have you both')
-Jill-over-Bella (with comforting Bella in E11)
-Leaving Throuple for Sage (oof, that E9 scene hurts like a mf)
-Neutral Others Nicole run
-Chick Others Lily run (being gentle in E11)
-Chick Maya monk run (staying friends in E4 and keeping my fingers crossed for something big in E12)
Probably gonna do Chick Cinderella monk run, as well as Josy monk run once E12 is out (dunno if Chick or Neutral yet) + mandatory DIK manwhore run sometime in the near future, before the next release. I know I'm gonna play through all of the individual LIs from the beginning anyway, so I'm not hogging saves
