I completely agree making the pregnancy a flashback or some sort of symbolic representation would be a terrible idea. Beyond being confusing as hell, it would be a complete bait and switch that will kill enthusiasm for any future, legitimate twists DPC might have planned.I don't believe in the flashbacks theories just because it wouldn't make sense in a narrative point of view, mixing current events with past events in the epilogue, without any context whatsoever would confuse the hell out of me.
Even if the next episode began with a prologue giving context to it being a past event, I would still be left wondering why on earth would DPC just drop a single flashback picture of a pregnancy test, in the middle of all the other current events of the epilogue.
So far all the episodes have been structured with the prologue being a flashback (both in recent and distant pasts) to give context to character arcs and epilogues have always served to give us an idea of what to expect in future episodes, messing with this design and starting mixing both these narrative devices just to create some suspense and mystery is a terrible idea.
Granted, this wouldn't be the first terrible idea DPC has put in a game so I don't think we can completely rule it out. But I see no reason to resort to such a poor theory until all other theories have been exhausted. Tight now there are a lot of alternative theories that are both more plausible and, frankly, more interesting.
Good news, everyone! At the rate we're going, it will take at least 4 years to finish 8 more episodes! That's pretty fucked, I don't want to wait another 2-3 years just to see how all of this ends, so if the season 3 want be the last, fuck him, I'll withdraw my patreon support.
I agree the Crossroads is quite clunky if you've only been pursuing one branch. But I didn't find it much better on multiple branches, either, because it's not a natural progression of the various stories. It's a blatant game mechanic designed to get us from the inputs to the outputs in a single scene because DPC thinks having everything happen at once makes it more dramatic (and saves time writing).I just looked at the official guide and there is nothing said about making a decision in episode 9.
I'm not challenging your right to play like that. You can really go through the game like a Chick without drama. But then there will be no point in the "Crossroads". You are meeting and knowing different girls throughout the game. Some girl you liked more, some less. As a Chick, you will be able to achieve the maximum result with them and the morning comes and you realize that this can no longer happen.
And it's time to make a choice. This is the meaning of the Сrossroads. The crossroads is to choose one girl and hurt another. It's a damn drama classic. Without this, the game seems too sterile.
Therefore, Chick as an infantile and as a guy who meets with the maximum number of girls for me is logical and complete as a character. Yes, I don't like him. How he behaves, but he has his own logic. He is an ordinary teenager who likes several girls at the same time. This is completely normal for modern relationships.
Calling him a hypocrite was a mistake. He's really not a hypocrite, he really thinks so. He just follows his heart, he makes mistakes and accepts the consequences. He does not behave like a mature young man who is weighing his consequences. Yes, you can follow the one path of the one chosen girl. But I do not consider this path canonical. A choice is when you choose from something. The essence of episode 8 is in choosing and accepting the consequences of choice. You offer a choice without a choice, a safe and boring way.
DPC should have spent less time this season on @#$%@#$ Madame Rose and more time weaving the LIs' stories into an actual Crossroads. Or ditched the single crossroads and given each branch a separate decision point, then had the MC take stock after the fact. (And still cut Madame Rose too, obviously.)
Honestly, there wasn't much change this time. Technically I guess Jill had the biggest win, but that's only because the wretched blackmail subplot had turned her into a complete moron. Jill didn't really fix the problems that plot caused, but at least it's over.Who has your won heart most, and who has lost your interest after this episode?
Before the episode Lily was 7/10 for me. After what happened in this episode and her proposal of rolling together got me excited. And she rendered almost perfectly especially in the scene where she's with Quinn. She's a definitely a 9/10 for now which puts her in front of nearly all girls.
I was excited what could happen between MC and Heather after plus three talk. But no she's almost as stupid as Arieth. That jacket talk made me lost all my interest in her.
Other than that? Lily is a little more appealing after seeing her bristle when the MC appeared to judge her. I guess Sage dropped a bit since her content was very thin and her friendship path worked so much more naturally. And Cathy was completely MIA after being a virtual cypher for the last 2 episodes, which sucked but isn't really a reflection on the character...
