It's actually really realistic. The thing is, in real life you don't know when something big life changing will happen. You miss the chance and it's gone. But I agree that maybe there should have been a way to fix it if you work really hard at it.
But at the same time, I have to say it's obvious something big could happen. It's a dating sim, your LI wants to take you on a special date because it's your birthday, who chooses to skip that to run errands for a friend with the flu (who has housemates)? In real life, sure, but in a dating sim? "I'll skip this romantic date with the girl I'm romancing so I can get kleenex for a friend". Really?

DPC has tried to create these characters not to be a bunch of robots. Jill isn't a machine that only accepts Chick tokens. She obviously doesn't want a DIK cunt guy, but at the same time, she's a girl, she still wants her guy to pay attention to her.

If it's it's an established relationship you're gonna have to deal with some pouting and typical annoying shit down the track, but if it's early days it could be taken as an indication of lack of interest.

At that point, when she said that, the only thing that could have made her feel that way was the mc turning down her picnic. Jill made this lovely picnic plan, the mc turns her down to see a sick friend (she wasn't fucking dying for crying out loud, he just went there to whack some wieners on her head...), and the next day the mc's crying about how he wants to see her. Well ya shoulda come to the picnic ya dumb cunt!

I wouldn't hate a twist like that tbh but I don't think it'll happen.
Jill might be a bit naive but she's obviously aware of how much she'd affect Bella and MC's lives if she ratted them out. Worst case scenario she basically avoids them both for the rest of the game if we choose Bella.
But considering Jill's apparent importance for the MC's family plot and how much Bella cares for Jill, what I think will happen is that this event will cause a rift between Jill Bella and MC will have to work to mend their friendship. One of the many bumps of the bumpy road Bella talked about.

Also, the Sage/Jill dilemma is also one-sided in that even if you don't go tend to Sage (even as a friend and nothing more), you still have the option to still pursue her during the HOTs party in ep7. With Jill the pivotal make-or-break moment is the picnic, not that it's then and there she determines the relationship is doomed but sets it in motion.

Both sides of the dilemma reflect the unique dispositions of the ladies. Glad on some level DPC differentiated that far, but I would have done something different, as I have stated before in other circumstances.

I just dont get it how you dont get it??? And you are smart dude! And gosh darnit, I agree with the gist of what you are saying. I truly do. I actually love the way you break the game's characters, their motivations and shit in your long worded posts. But ... the simple truth is this: DPC designed the game in a way where you can actually play like a DIK and still get Jill. Without mods or cheating you can balance the game to have a solid amount of sex with other girls, you can beat the shit out of other people, humiliate them even, hell you can even choose to NOT help Jill during one the most important moments in her life (Concert). And Jill ignores all that and accepts you as a boyfriend, has sex with you. All you had to do was be a major DIK to a sick friend and little Jillybean is happy. It feels out of character.

That picnic variable has to much power. On the other hand you can devote your entire playthrough to her, max the chick stats, be her knight in shining armor during the concert, but god forbid you choose to take care of your sick friend, then Jillybean moans that you were not there for her more often. It just bad game design for that particular choice. Period.

I mean you can stan some more for DPC instead admitting that he is just a human being like the rest of us capable of making mistakes. Burning mistakes actually.
