Ohhh nooo! I feel my self getting sucked into this vortex of Internet argumentation!!!! o_O

Tooo late, I'm in!!!

Yeah, anyway, when we understand someone's motives, we can sympathise with them. That doesn't mean we can excuse their bad behaviour, but it can explain why their bad behaviour exists.

Quinn is a product of her upbringing. Raised in a drug dealing environment by a dad that taught her to trust no one and keep those she uses at arms lengths; so that's what she does. Her being a cunt isn't justified, it's just explained.

Just like Jill is raised in an overprotective environment with its own social expectations. That's why she's naive, bordering on a little bit stupid. She's not excuse for being an idiot at times, but at least we know why.

The mc's dad is a very emotional guy, and he raised the mc on his own, so when Fuckface gets overly emotional at times, we may want to punch his lights out, but at least we know why he's that way.

And can I just say, Joshy92 trolled y'all good! :ROFLMAO:

Am I missing something, like how can someone's speculation that Quinn's mom is in rehab be an example of DPC's ignorance?
If you haven't noticed DPC has shown his ignorance of conditions in the US on many occasions, leaving many of us questioning why he would set his story in a culture that he is so ignorant of.

I offered the Mom in rehab as an example of something that Quinn might need money for, and given how DPC has shown us glimpses of Quinn's Mom, it may be an accurate example. But, once again, if that's the direction he's going then he has already flubbed it.

If you pay close attention you will notice that DPC's writing has a particular weakness in exploiting his ideas. For example, Maya. He wanted her to be held hostage to her Father in some way, but he hasn't been able to successfully exploit the idea in his story. Mainly due to his ignorance of student loan's (or inability to do a google search).

Now, there has been a general trend in the story so far with Quinn, that she desperately needs money for some reason. A reason that we don't yet know. The only possible clue we've seen so far is her Mother. It could be something else entirely but this late in the story is does seem unlikely. Either way I am confident that he will fuck it up entirely.

The ends never justify the means
What a stupid statement. Saying "the ends never justify the means" is just as wrong as saying "my goals are so noble that they justify whatever means are necessary to bring them about."

I swear, sometimes trying to explain ethics to people is like trying to explain space/time theory to a cat
Tell me about it. :KEK:

is there any real consequence when we cheat with our main LI as of now?
How so? So far there have been fatal betrayals of relationships. For example Cathy with Bella or Jill with Quinn. After chapter 8 there was theoretically an amnesty on the past, but new betrayals could be fatal

From what I can recall, Maya's loan is about the only thing that DPC seems to have royally fucked up. I imagine it'll fizzle out thought; just like the Tybalt blackmail (which had people debating the ins and out of trespass laws in the US), Patrick's blackmail will be ended up being one big bluff (it's the only way DPC can dig himself out of that hole).

I'd be curious to see a list of the many occasions where DPC has shown his ignorance of conditions in the US.

Quinn's dad is dead and her mom just staggers around, out of her mind, at Buddy's joint. Quinn isn't doing anything for anyone but herself. She "desperately needs money" because she smokes her own product and then ends up having to hustle harder to make the difference (and then blames it on Riona).

I play with minigames on because thats the only way i know how to get money and the special renders and have done it with every LI path ( a real man GRRRRR ) lol.

So, is it possible to get the money and renders without playing the minigames or do you miss out on something along the way. Just wondering out of curiosity.
Once you unlock the special renders, you needn’t unlock them again. Same as the Scenes.

My problem has never been running out of money… unless I spend it on dumb shit like the fish, or Madame Rose, or to get a blowie from Riona. Once you learn where all the money can be found, you’re good.

The other trick is learning how to plan the parties so the DIKs absolutely hate having you in charge of it, never put you in charge again, and now you have free time to fuck your favorite LIs. Haven’t cracked that one yet.

No, that's still the ends justify the means. Even if she's paying for her Mother's rehab or treatment in a mental health facility, it's still not justified
If nothing else, "questionable means for a decent end" can potentially turn things more morally grey, compared to straight black/white of being a greedy self-centered psychopath with no regards for others.

The ends never justify the means

The biggest is Neil and MC's poverty, it's just not believable. I'm not saying that there's no poverty in the US, there's way too much, but poverty is relative to the overall wealth of a society. In the US families that have lived on government aid all their lives have color tv's, smartphones, microwaves and etc. Outside of the major cities most Americans own cars, often more than one per family. And the overwhelming majority have air conditioning, in fact I can't remember the last time I saw a car or truck without AC, unless it was a vintage. Almost all houses and apartments have AC.

Neil's income is way off, a construction worker, especially one with 19+ years on the job, is earning a very good income.

Given this we see MC saying he's never been in a car with AC. There was a similar scene where he commented on seeing color tv. Then there's the car's. Where are they? Even the students from relatively affluent families don't have cars. In fact cars, and parking are a major and growing problems for college's, building and operating parking garages have become significant line items in their budgets.

The entire thing happens on campus and at other destinations, not on the road. The travel is rarely if ever featured, so it's pretty normal you won't see cars. When travel is featured cars do make appearance. With exception of maybe MC no one makes a point about "not having a car". This feels like nitpicking for the sake of nitpicking, tbh.

Neil doesn't own a car. I haven't seen any of the frat kids, except Rusty, with a car. None of the HOTs either.

But the argument was about DPC's relative ignorance of American society, seems to me you are the one nitpicking.

That is part of the spirit of South American telenovelas where the poor are very poor but with healthy values, the rich are very rich and omnipotent, but unhappy

Neil and Mc poverty isn't realistic not to the level DPC shows it my family was in construction for a very long time we didn't have a lot of money but I could still play video games, it would be believable if things wasn't easy for them but still got car, tv and everything else a family would have MC act's like he lives in the 70's or a third world country

I can't remember, does Neil state the car he's driving when he takes MC to the college isn't his?

Where do you expect to see the other frat kids with their cars? Driving up the stairs in the school building when they go to classes? Or maybe parking it in the middle of frat house when they come to the party? Because that's the areas where the game takes place.

That's not mentioning you actually do see the scooby gang in a car at the end of latest episode, when they leave Patrick's place.

But the argument was about DPC's relative ignorance of American society, seems to me you are the one nitpicking.
This was the only part of your argument which involved someone else than MC and his father. I didn't bother with the other points because you have to admit that "the game doesn't portray poverty/American society correctly because one person is excessively poor" makes for a pretty poor argument.

What a discovery! DPC must be South American. Now everything makes sense :ROFLMAO:

Also, how do you know so much about SA telenovelas?
