And vocalizing a game of this genre is a terrible idea. There is no money for professional actors, even with his income level, and few people want to deal with a porn game, and cheap voice acting methods, well, we saw the result ourselves.

By the time DPC gets to epilogues AI will be so good he could use AI voices

DPC will always find away to piss someone off. It might be better just to let the player imagine what the girl sounds like to me Josy would sound like Madison Beer but considering it could be anywhere from 5 to 10 years or more for this game to be finish there no telling the level of voice AI could make sure it only a tool and you got to know how to use it but that really could be something DPC could use mean it not like it going to be worse then Jill in the intro

It'd be like recasting main characters for the series finale of a long running TV show. He had his shot and failed miserably, don't bother trying again.

seems to me a sincerely futile and hardly productive effort.

music is certainly a strength of BADIK, yet so many, an absolutely not insignificant share, play without audio. what would be the point of adding the VA?

Many AVN and other adult game developers use voice acting for some parts in dialogue and/or lewd scenes. You have so far completely avoided these. Is there a game design reason you shy away from this, or a personal preference for some reason? or have you/are you considered experimenting with such sound in the future?
That's not true. I played around with them during Episode 1 of Being a DIK. Jill and Bella had partial voice acting. However, I moved away from the idea for multiple reasons. It was a big task to manage code, preparations, sound, and communication with voice actresses. It felt weird only to have partial voice acting for a few characters and the cast has somewhere between 100-200 characters who'd need to be voiced. I didn't have the budget for it back then either and had to prioritize hardware and software. So, I decided to scrap that idea early so I didn't have to adapt the story and write with that in mind. By now, every player has some voice in their mind for the characters and the workload of getting everything voiced by now is daunting. Even just adding and synchronizing sound to lewd scenes would take quite some time. I haven't planned to add it to Being a DIK in the future, but I'm not against using it in another game.

If you would have done Acting Lessons now, would you change anything? Will you ever remaster Acting Lessons?

I replayed Acting Lessons not that long ago after not playing the game, other than for development purposes, since the 2018 December release. I'm happy with the game as a whole, and it set out to tell the story that I wanted to tell. It also ended where it needed to end, so any prolongation of it wouldn't be feasible.

If I were to remaster the game, there are many areas where I could improve. These include expanded lewd scenes and story, even more choices and branching, better visuals, more dialogue, better audio, and voice acting. With all those changes, it would be like developing a new game, and then I'd have to ask myself if it's worth it.

The story is what I want it to be, and any changes might take away from the original experience instead of making it a better game. The same could be the case if I only chose to remaster the art. The characters would likely look different, and it could potentially ruin the soul of the game.

I guess I see the potential remaster as romanticization. You build it up to sound great in your head, but it doesn't measure up when revisited in reality. At the moment, I’m not considering it, but I’m not shutting the door.

Speaking of, I found this old comment by DPC.

I would love to have voice acting for all main girls, the problem is twofold: 1) Money - I can't afford it without more support (yet) 2) I need to find more talented voice actresses. VoiceLikeCandy does a superb job, imo, and I will continue having her act for Jill and Isabella. I know that it might feel weird that only two characters have VA, but that will hopefully change in the future. If anyone knows of a talented VA, please feel free to contact me. It would be a paid job.

No proof of any sort. Hell, I don't even know if he is married and/or has any kids (I don't really care that much about him to know such details). But I wouldn't put is past him, though. Even if he declared something entirely different during some Q&A, that doesn't necessarily mean it's true.

When it comes to the internet, I take everything with a massive grain of salt. I have enough experience online to know that whatever someone says or declares, if I don't witness it with my own eyes, hear it with my own ears or able to confirm it myself, the likelihood of it being true falls drastically. With all the BS roaming around online, I've grown massively cynical and very critical.

People are too gullible, here's an anecdote, few years back I was a regular player of SW:ToR. One night when people were arguing about something (I can't quite recall anymore but I think it was something about PINGs as in connection latency), I managed to make some people believe I was playing from the I.S.S. (International Space Station). So yeah, with enough made-up details with just the right amount of repetition, simpletons will believe just about anything. And lord knows there are an abundance of them roaming the web.
