i call it bad writing. a good writer makes the player willing to xyz instead of forcing the player's mc.
every time when i meet a situation where no matter the player (and i am not speaking about story elements like moving out from Troy after beaten up, only things with LIs, i mean, supposed to be LIs), i feel like i am watching a witcher Geralt against five wolf, but not 5v1, 5x1v1. the wolfes attack Geralt after each other, because that poor way is it written. the last wolf calmly and patiently see his four brother is slayed down...

I agree. You have a choice to be fuck buddies with Sage, but even then it's only for a few scenes in Season 1&2 and afterwards you're forced to choose whether you want to get more emotionally involved with Sage or not. There's no way to keep being fuck buddies with her on the Others path because it intersects with the writing of the Sage path.

Sage is a main girl who had 2 different version to get in to her path. One way or another MC has to come to a conclusion that Sage is also a contestant in his Follow my heart race.

in the end of the day, both approach crossed path with each other. and ep7 Hots party was the one where, Friendship MC, or Fuck toy MC officially open the Sage romance path.

Players might wanted this Fuck Buddy thing to go on forever, but MC did not, although dpc did not emphasize it as much as he did with some others like Josy , Jill , or Bella,

MC regardless of Sage wish, did started with the let's see where this goes. mentality , but those Character end cards were always very telling, they pretty much summarized MC's views and feelings on main girls.

It wasn't a well executed Scene, but it also can't be said that its is not where things would eventually lead to.
and let's be real it is far from being as Bad as the things with Jill ;)

Honestly, I think the writing for Jill throws everybody's character off. She's this virginal ice queen who is suddenly cool with sharing the MC. Perhaps it's just me, but this motivation doesn't work. She's so separated from everybody but Bella from the main cast that she legit doesn't fit the story anymore if she isn't chosen. Hell, even with Bella, things are off because instead of having this rivalry form between the two girls, we have Bella encouraging Jill until Tremolo decides.

It's obvious the ep 8 decision wasn't his original plan, he tried at first to split the paths off using player decisions, but the way he did it was just terrible. He split Bella from the others path (if others is banging every girl it's possible to bang) by having Cathy take off her panties just to give MC a blowjob and then leave her panties in Bella's car. He split Jill off from the Sage path by having her decide MC isn't good enough for her if he'd rather help a sick friend than go with her on a surprise picnic. I think he realised that he wasn't very good at coming up with believable branching in that way so abandoned that plan.

Because he abandoned that plan he then came up with the ep 8 decision instead. The problem is because he hadn't originally planned the ep 8 decision he hadn't ensured that all the MG paths were at the same point to make that decision. Because Jill was at that point he couldn't delay it any further than ep 8, and the halfway point of the game made sense as the place for the decision however the other main girls were not at the same point Jill was. The throuple was probably the next closest to being at that point, but even then I don't think either were looking to tie MC down at that point, the jealousy levels were probably putting them forcing a decision at ep 10 or 11 I think. Bella wasn't at the point to get serious with MC yet, she still has mental issues to push through to get to that point but DPC ignored that because he needed to. Sage was nowhere near the point of demanding MC be exclusive with her.

A more logical solution would have been a gradual decision, so in ep 8 Jill tells MC she wants to be with him (if she does) but that he'd have to stop being with other girls to be with her. In ep 10 or 11 Maya and Josy tell MC that they want to make the throuple official and him to stop being with other girls. When Bella deals with her mental issue (probably ep 13 or 14 if DPC had allowed her to do it) then she tells MC she's ready for a relationship. Sage probably would have pushed the issue herself until she was close to graduation at the end of the game.

I think the reason DPC didn't do this is probably because of the amount of casual players who only do one playthrough, the vast majority would have had no problem dropping Jill in ep 8 if she's the only one that closes off the other paths. Possibly a few more would have chosen the throuple when they give the ultimatum but still a large majority would have stayed on the Bella/Sage/everyone else route. Then a few more would have taken the Bella path when it came up with only a couple of eps left, but it still would have left the majority on the Sage/others route because that would be where most of the content was. By splitting all the paths at the halfway point he's ensured that the majority of players (even the casual ones) would play multiple times to see the content they wanted to see.

the only really poorly handled storyline is Sage's where she has already told him she is not ready and MC's decision goes in the opposite direction.

Maya and Josy were put on hiatus throughout the second season but, leaving aside the particularity of their relationship, they could have taken that step at any time.

and even Bella, for when a bit behind as a relationship, it is believable that she wants to be reassured that MC is serious (and especially that he will end things with Jill, as selfish as that is) before moving on.

the handling was not the best (the revelation at the recital, the crisis of conscience at breakfast...) but the time was ripe enough.

however, it remains a purely technical decision, useful for DPC to manage the various stories, he needed MC/player to make a decision, so as to start the new cycle starting from that decision

I don't think she is a ice Queen in the traditional sense but I can see it. Cause yeah she is super nice and friendly but also I don't think anyone that doesn't have status dares to get close to her. Since she lives with rich kids that in it's self can be intimating for most but also her name carries weight to it. At least that what it comes across to me as it doesn't really seem she has friends that aren't rich. So she is more of an Ice Queen by association and being born to an elite family until one actually talks to her they will see she is not. But I can see how she can come across as one if one does not know her and only knows a bit about her status and family / rumors.
