Imo that's because she doesn't have any real life experience. If you've never been scammed or conned or whatever, then you wouldn't know what to look out for. Sure Maya is naive, but considering her sheltered upbringing, it's no surprise for me that she's easily getting deceived. Although the free tuition should have raised some red flags, even for maya but... maya was so desperate for money that she overlooked that part I guess?

It's kinda stupid on Maya's part believing a stupid rumours about free tuition without verifying it.

One good example here is when Bella offer mc a work in library to aid him in rebuilding the frat house. There are alot of ways to earn money, but Maya always wants the easy way out which raises alot of red flags

One good example here is when Bella offer mc a work in library to aid him in rebuilding the frat house. There are alot of ways to earn money, but Maya always wants the easy way out which raises alot of red flags

Needless to get around it, the whole part of Patrick's blackmail makes no sense, and is such a giant no-sense that everything that follows seems stupid.

Maya must be naive enough to believe in free tuition, but she must be completely obfuscated by panic to believe that it could be Quinn giving her that money.

now we know that even bright students and BR teachers need to read the contract to establish that it's bullshit... we'll see

Wow my mind just got blown, I am typing this with game open in the background cause I had to get it out there with fresh memory. So I am doing Chick Jill run or as I like to call it CHILL run and while initially going for Chick side is really boring (coupled with the fact that minigames are off), once you actually get the Jill focused parts it's such a fresh perspective of the game because she is sort of really different from most other characters. Maybe I was initially intimidated by that fact so it took me this long to try and see what kind of content she really has. And the details DrPinkCake put here are amazing actually. I would argue that disabling minigames for this run is enhancing the roleplay experience. MC being broke constantly compliments the dynamic he has with Jill who is clearly used to luxury. Mansion not being built perfectly, school tests not being done perfectly, fights not going smoothly. All these are meaningful flaws not detrimental ones. And the big reason why I jumped here straight away... Just got done with dinner at Bianca's house and I noticed Jill's model eyes looked a bit wonky and normally I would think that is mistake on rendering process by dev, but for such sophisticated game later I realize when MC said he couldn't spot which friend had glass eye.... It's bloody Jill isn't it? She has the glass eye? And the dialogue after they exit that house, the genius of that conversation with turtle and slow and steady wins the race comments. I might not have Jill high on favorites list and find Chick side of the game quite boring, but for STORY this run is actually so epic! It feels like you discover alternate version of the game from what you normally play and I enjoy this ride very much!

That makes me wonder, what if I enjoy Maya/Josy path after this unsuspecting surprise? Maybe I will give it a shot after all... Sorry for rambling, I got super emotional just now. Thanks for reading

Wow dude that hatred towards one character is too extreme. But I can understand where you're coming from. I'm not sure if her behaviour is natural or calculated within a certain degree to receive sympathy towards her.

Her victim mentality is the most irritating thing about her. Because her father tricked him in signing this loan that she needs to distance herself to Josy so she can finish her studies. Quinn tricking her about free tuition and all.

That the funny and stupid thing Maya did she does not believe in it but she still went and go for it without even thinking about it. Also she easily trusted the word of Quinn without verifying it with Sage or the other Hots members. Another thing is the task Quinn provide to Maya which is almost impossible to complete, especially the sexual task she needs to complete this kind of thing are very questionable and can be use as a material for blackmail. Thankfully Josy's mother is Aerith

I dunno what repulses me about Maya so much. I would love to like her since she is basically the center of the universe in this game. Is it her ugly haircut? Is it her drama? Is it the "I'm lesbian, but MC's cock is the cure" vibe?

She dresses and acts so hot in her dorm and then when she roams the campus and joins parties she feels like a prude. Is she playing some 200IQ game of seducing gigachad MC to help her with the drama and will ditch him later? I don't trust her.

I like the fact that Maya has a complex and contradictory character, it adds depth to her. Especially against Josy, who can be described in one sentence: a neighbor who for some unknown reason is in love with MC.
Maya is capricious, she likes to play the victim, she wants all her problems solved for her and doesn't want to do anything about it. She is naive and gullible. But as much as you don't like her personally, she is the most well-described and interesting character in the game.
In second place is probably Patrick. In general, everything about Maya's family is surprisingly well written, apparently DPC, as in the case of AL, used his own biography to write the main arcs.
Jill on the contrary I find the most boring and most one-dimensional character in this game. I have a lot of trouble playing her branch. She only has a cartoonish conflict with Tybalt along the way and that's it. Mostly everything is perfect. And DPC himself doesn't seem to know how to add variety and drama in her path besides cheating.

The average salary for working student in USA is $20/month if Maya can work 6hrs. a day and 6 day in a week it is possible to earn that money. Yes she needs to sacrifice her social life but it is doable
