True. There could be something to it. Most likely the idea was that the MC was too bad at taking notes and the actual reason was a gameplay one to make money less abundant in the game, but we never know with DPC. There could be more to it.

What I meant is, the scene when he gets "cold shivers" and starts panicking is there always, and unless one has interacted with Jade all that's left are the interactions with Sage, and I don't know why one should "panic" that way.

But very rare some games work's out with that dialogue especially if it is for the siblings which change to roomates.

On the subject of Tommy being the traitor I see a potential motive rising from his drug abuse. Quite possibly he blabbed while high as he doesn't really respect the DIK code and then was blackmailed to obtain the evidence.

Quinn would however not have been involved in this as she and Tommy start fighting the night he first sees the Jade video and they don't bury the hatchet until Stephen already has it.
