I look at it like the Dark Matter series (with Jennifer Connelly). A huge multiverse, the same people, the same personalities, but at a certain point they made a different choice. That is, they are capable of this, but they did it differently in this realm.I personally try to look at each playthrough as it's own world and try to not take into account the 'meta' from non-made choices. On my Bella playthrough, Bella was not capable of doing it because Jill and MC were never more than friends. So since that option never existed, she was not given the opportunity to consider, or be capable of, it.

Given the next episode will likely be the resolution to the Bella arc, I think you might be onto something here, given the already rule breaking and whatever the MC finds out about her, it's likely that we shall have an option for an out there, if its not forced (after all way backwhen MC has already said if he knew about her he wouldn't have kissed her or whatever it was)
i think they will break up at the very start of the episode and there will be a choice to fight for her or not

Main difference is that Bella is a teacher and Heather is your DIK brother's girl. The former is something you never talk about with the rest of the gang, knowing how sensitive that information is. The latter is the ultimate betrayal that usually ends with being either pummelled into the ground or knocked the fuck out.
