Theoretically it's even possible that (as joked a couple of times) Derek is MC's biological half-brother, while not being related by blood to Maya. Chances of this happening through normal sex are so unlikely it's almost impossible. xD

my theory is that nick is vinnys pocket holder and puppet. "man from inside" and that vinny was pulling the strings from behind while nerds were doing separate things.
the epilogue of chapter 11 makes it look like its all nerds fault but i think that is only partially true.
we can see vinny look at the pictures hanging on the wall during halloween and we know vinny and nick were maggot brothers so nick is/was closer to vinny than everyone else. I think reason nick says he was with the laptop but still insist he did not post the cluck is because he was covering for vinny, and he knew laptop would be in that room because he knows vinny better than anyone else so he went straight there to look for laptop.
i also think it was vinny who egged alphas to ruin the dik house and he told caleb to go easy on nicks room because of their friendship.
i think in chapter 12 we will learn that only thing nerds were doing behind the scenes is sending letters and maybe the camera. but i think nerds could also just be puppets for vinny as he has them in his pocket via blackmail of his own as i am sure magnar is taking drugs from vinny for concentration the same way we saw sally getting it from quinn (maybe also reason why other nerds are not cool with sally anymore because she was getting her drugs from someone else... just a theory)
