Can't really say "AFAIK" like it's in the game when it's never mentioned or suggested at all, it's just a working fan theory.

I don't think Bella knew Lana, I reckon Jill and Bella met at the Library, Bella has been working there for 2 years, same amount of time as Jill has been at B&R and they just connected as Jill was always there studying, Bella doesn't seem to have any connection with Jill's other friends.

My working theory is that they met at some sort of group counselling session for grief sufferers. They've both lost someone (Lana to drugs, James is missing) so they could have bonded over their shared grief.

Like I said, chances are pretty likely he knows the police are coming because he's listening to police radio using a scanner. I don't know how easy they are to get in the US when you're a criminal, but in Europe they are pretty common to buy for everyone.

We're talking about Buddy, not Tony Montana.

The guy operates out of a shithole for drug addicts, he looks like a drug addict himself, there's no way he has the resources to get out of this or do anything from prison.

As for the police raid, it's not an emergency operation where they arrive with all their sirens blaring, and the dispatcher calls all the units in the area. It's an operation mounted following a tip-off, so a discreet intervention.

Buddy is definitely out of the equation, in jail or worse if he had the bad idea of resisting arrest. That leaves only Vinny for one last face-off.

Did she say James has been missing for three years, or am I misremembering that? If it's only three years, it would at least fit the timeline better, as Bella and Jill haven't known each other for that long.

Well you were only on the Jill path in that case. Possibly jumped off the Jill path if you looked after sage, maybe jumped of the bella path if you did anything with Cathy

Buddy still seems pretty intelligent, so having a scanner doesn't seem too unlikely. Also we see the police lights, and chances are pretty likely they were notified through radio as in "patrol car(s) closest please go there." You don't need to be Tony Montana to have a scanner, in Europe a large part of the dumbest criminals even have a scanner.
