We know she stormed out of Stephen's office upset about something in Episode 10, so maybe he killed the free tuition deal and she had to shut down. Alternatively, with her planning to take down Buddy this time maybe she didn't have time for her old schemes and effectively abandoned it?

Both possibilities feel like a stretch, but there's likely some meaning behind the draught since DPC loves to interconnect things.

I don't think the restaurant closed down, two very vocal people like Melanie and Sara would have complained about the business side.
