Yes
The gang needed a guilt free reason to look into Bella's secret room without her permission. Derek's reckless tendencies have been firmly established and the tip of a finger crosses the line to serious territory while the worst case consequences remain relatively small. It's actually quite a neat way to bring that plot point to all paths. The only shitty part is having to wait for the next episode
What?

Those two things have nothing to do with each other. Bella's door being unlocked is completely unrelated, and everyone is there because Sage wanted to have a family/party, and Bella invited everyone over for Christmas. The fact the door is unlocked makes 0 sense.

The realistic behaviour of chopping off a finger with a champagne sabre is just silly. They're made dull. And even if it was really sharp, that takes a lot of leverage and a certain angle to cut through a thumb's finger bone, which would've been slowed down by scoring down the neck of the bottle. (As well, the angle of the bottle and hand doesn't even work.) At worst, he'd have gotten knicked; but, gotta create an immediate conflict for cliffhanger hijinks.

What paths? No choices change or modify this outcome.

And which plot point? This doesn't change anything in the plot, aside from whatever Derek can or can't do in the future.

Claiming this is clever or good writing? It's just Derek being Derek to drum up temporary conflict. And the locked door that is in the vicinity is magically unlocked and opened just because Maya was randomly looking for towels/a bathroom?

I still think it’s something stupid and simple. For example, Bella has her gifts for everyone in there. Maybe they’re not all wrapped or are big and were never going to wrapped. Surprise! You saw your awesome gifts too early! I mean, people want this to be a big reveal on Bella’s past, James, or something else to create drama. I just don’t believe it’s going to be that deep. Just my opinion.

The worst part is it's a cliff hanger and we'll have to wait about two years before this gets resolved. The "room" has been a ongoing discussion since around episode 3 and the "Christmas" incident has been hyped up since episode 9. Unless Bella is pulling a Norman Bates, or has fully dedicated BDSM room, the reveal is going to be a major let down.

What's most likely going to happen..... "Bella, why didn't you tell me you have a crypto mining room!?!" Then MC runs off like a pussy and sulks in a corner for a weeks.

Guess you are an expert, and I don't doubt that at all. I bought the premise that in order to cut corners Derek bought a sharp sword instead of a dull sabre and held the bottle close to the top instead of the bottom, where the hand's supposed to go.

Maybe, but I feel like it would've happened by now. Episode 10 was a good spot for it, her last solo hangout. Or even during anal, like having her wear the ballgag could've been a DIK choice.

Josy sorta started out CHICK lite, but definitely lands on the DIK side now. But not overly so, like early Sage.
That jockey scene with the ball gag had me feeling all kinds of hot. It was definitely a DIK sort of position, but Josy also likes a tad of gentleness, so she's a bit of a neutral girl to me.

Sorry, but I seriously don't understand how this is so difficult for you to understand.
