If by "carrying" the story you mean plot relevance, I honestly probably wouldn't have any of the main 5 there. Maybe Bella or Sage, but the others really don't have much going for them in terms of driving the canon plotline forward. They're all kind of in their own worlds. Quinn is the absolute must but beyond that... dealer's choice, tbh.

I had a great week because it felt like it went by in a flash, and every day was shorter than I wanted.
I started by wrapping up work on a lewd scene and planned to continue to work on another lewd scene. But I ended up playing the episode and writing, and I went with the flow. I wrote more scenes and then started working on a big free roam event for the episode.
The free roam event will need a bunch of animations, which is why I felt I could start work on it. I spent one day planning it by compiling notes, outlining the flow of events, and mapping the layouts of the environments. To show you some behind-the-scenes, here is how this process can look on my end (all text has been redacted).

The free roam event has new environments, which is exciting, but that also means much more work. I have been working on the environment design for several days, and it's starting to come together. I have a few more areas to design before I can continue with the next step, which is dressing all the characters. All 87 of them. This is the biggest number of characters I've had in a single free roam event. Just dressing them will take at least two days, and I'm hoping to get a poll out of it, too.
After I'm done with that, I will start writing dialogue for the planned events and begin posing animations. I've got exciting weeks ahead of me, and I will alternate between working on this free roam event and on lewd scenes.
The animation queue I tried to build with the lewd scene I finished earlier this week is looking too slim for my liking. Hopefully, I can fix that next week. Oh, what a wonderful problem to have.
This week, I also finalized work on the special part of this project that I started way earlier in this development cycle. And I've also worked on the Steam/GOG trailers for Season 3—they are almost finished. I have locked in the episode 12 title and written a synopsis for the store pages as well. You'll learn more details about all of this in an upcoming announcement.

The dream sequences were one of those experimental shits that DPC threw in during the first season when he was still testing the waters and seeing what would work for the future.
It thought it was more of a cheap and easy way to have lewds early in the game without any setup or work. Although he could've just added more girls to the restaurant too, instead of mainly just Cammy and Rio.
The first season and the first two episodes of the second season were probably my favorites.
It was just a way to get some lewd content into the game early on when Tremolo didn't know anyone yet. Once he actually started fucking, why would you need dream sequences?
I like playing the Jill route as a kind of palate cleanser after playing the others (particularly the Bella and Maya/Josy routes).
