So, I came here to say that I’ve got a few hot takes about Sage.
First of all, Sage has never really been a confident girl. She’s got low self-esteem and constantly needs validation from guys — that’s why she’s so attached to Chad. She’s afraid of being alone, probably because of painful memories from her childhood in the orphanage.
Second, she actually reminds me a lot of Cassie Howard from Euphoria. Like Cassie, she uses her sexuality as a shield to hide her insecurities and lack of self-worth. Sage, just like Cassie, invests way too much in relationships — she gives herself completely, and when it ends, she’s left feeling empty inside.
And just like Cassie, Sage shows signs of borderline personality disorder — emotional instability, mood swings, aggression, impulsivity, addiction to alcohol and sex. I’d guess that if she ever finds out that the MC slept with her mother, she won’t care about the reasons or the context. People with borderline personality disorder tend to idealize their partners, and if she learns that the guy she loves actually slept with her mom — even if he had no idea — it could absolutely crush her. She might fall into a deep depression, not because of the act itself, but because of how her personality disorder makes her process betrayal and rejection.

But mostly it would just add extra content and we'd have to wait even longer for an episode.

I think some of those might be valid, but I would disagree with several:

-- addiction to alcohol. She said that she actually balances out her partying and her studying. She manages them both effectively and is on her way to doing her dissertation and graduating. We see her partying but we also see her at parties not drinking heavily. So I don't believe this is an issue. She definitely does get very drunk at times, particularly the first party after she found out Chad was cheating. But getting drunk now and then, while maintaining/managing alcohol consumption for the most part, is not an addiction to alcohol.

-- addiction to sex. I'm not sure where this comes from. She certainly enjoys sex and is uninhibited, but there isn't anything that shows her to be a sex addict. In fact, she had very little sex over the last couple years. She's been with Chad for at least 2 years before the current school year, and we know Chad rarely touches her because he is gay (his secret). And she definitely didn't cheat on Chad until she found him cheating this school year.

-- emotional instability/mood swings. Also not sure on this. She generally keeps her emotions hidden away, she talked about this. But she occasionally does let her anger out if the situation is bad enough (Chad cheating and refusing to admit it). I'm not sure wanting to punch something and scream when finding out the guy you've been with for years is cheating and he refuses to admit it is an unreasonable response. So rather than mood swings or instability I would say she suppresses her emotions.

-- insecurity. This I can see. I don't think we really know why she stuck with Chad for years even though he doesn't treat her that well and rarely has sex with her. But insecurity is certainly a valid theory.

-- needing validation from guys. Also not sure on this. She's in a committed relationship for over 2 years - a relationship that doesn't give her much support or validation. She isn't out there flirting with other guys or trying to get attention constantly. She only flirts with the MC because Chad cheated and she is now hurt and wants some positive attention.

Perhaps DPC itself did not know how to portray a toxic relationship, as the relationship with Chad seems very unrealistic. As a rule, toxic relationships are like a roller coaster, with moments of arguing followed by moments of emotional intimacy, causing the other partner to experience a surge of dopamine, which leads to a strong addiction to this type of relationship. But the problem is that DPC didn't show why Sage is still with him. We didn't see any romantic moments that could somehow justify it. Sage and Chad are just... because. It's not even a relationship; their relationship is more like a friendship.
Due to fear of falling under the NTR roller, DPС did not name the reason and made Sage's character rather flat, which means we have to invent illnesses for her to somehow explain it.
But if we continue in this vein, there are quite a few examples in the game where Sage loses her temper. Sorry, I really think you are reaching on these points.

Wanting casual sex after finding your long-term boyfriend cheating is in no way an indication of sex addiction. And having her mouth fucked and tits fucked is also not in any way aberrant sex acts.
Her early sex acts with the MC are due to the cheating and her needing physical validation. Keep in mind, her boyfriend has barely touched her for a long time and now she finds out that he is having sex with someone else.
She is naturally going to feel like something must be wrong with her and reaching out for physical validation there makes perfect sense.

And I still don't see where you think she has an alcohol addiction (your term).
Drinking whiskey straight and having alcohol in her room doesn't mean anything - just that she enjoys drinking.
I can only think of the one scene in the game where she is clearly very drunk - that Ep 2 first party where she dances with and hits on the MC.
- The HOT mixer we don't see her drinking at all until the MC brings her the whiskey.
- The halloween party she is drinking but is very much not drunk. She's perfectly lucid and is able to lead the costume competition with no issue.

You seem to be mixing up having a drink with being drunk and under the influence of alcohol.
Unless you can show in-game where she is drunk, as she clearly is in Ep 2 when she hits on and dances with the MC, you can't say she's drunk and that is causing her behavior.
I explained the casual sex - her self confidence has been shattered by Chad and she needs to feel physically attractive and wanted again. She even says it's just a fuck-buddy thing. It isn't until later that she starts to catch feelings for the MC.
You seem to think that there is some psychological problem with someone feeling like that.
There isn't.


As for the breakup, believe it or not people that have been cheated on and get dumped can still feel depression and sometimes take blame on themselves. This is not unusual.
Chad cheating on her just destroyed the self-confidence that she did have.
That's one area I probably agree - she does seem to have self confidence and insecurity issues.


You are free to think any way you want, but I don't see some of your opinions remotely supported by what we see in the game.
