I have to play that scene again then, I thought it showed them together.
If they've only been together for a short amount of time then it seems likely they haven't had sex based on what we see in Ep 3 when they are fighting.

My main reason to think they have had sex was just the presumption that they have been together for years.

Ok, you are right.
I didn't load up the scene but I found the dialog in the script.
All it shows is Sage talking with Randy and Tommy as they are setting up the DIKs.
Then Chad comes over and Sage says Hi.
She confirms that the HOTs party with the tri-alphas and asks Chad when they are going to start planning for the years parties.
(This was her first year as the HOT president so she needed to work with him on party planning.)
Then he leaves.
So I totally read too much into that.

Given all that, there isn't anything in the game I can think of that points to them being together for any long amount of time.
Hell, it might just have started this new school year.
I now think that they have not had sex at all, given this info and the things she says during their Ep3 fight.

If it is ever actually stated how long they have been together, I've missed it through several runs. The two years ago flashback shows that Sage definitely has a thing for Chad, but Chad doesn't act like they are in a relationship.

One can make a lot of plausible speculations from there. Like Chad not getting into any relationships because a girl would spot he was gay and out him. Or just throw the word out after a break up making people suspicious. Then the alphas started to wonder about him and he got in a relationship with Sage to shut them up.

Then there is the question of when Chad and Troy got together. If Chad avoided all relationships before Troy and then started showing signs of having sex, he'd need an excuse. Fictional one night stands would only work for so long.

The "It's about fucking time..." would imply more than a month, but it would still be way less than the two years.

Agreed, but after rereading the dialog from the flashback scene I don't think it even hints that Sage has a thing for Chad. (Clearly she does develop feelings for him at some point, just saying that the flashback scene doesn't indicate that her feelings have been there for years.)
She needs to work with him to plan the parties since she is the new HOT president and he is presumably some high up in the tri-alphas.
That's all it shows, her pursuing him to do party planning.
The scene isn't really about Sage and Chad, it's about the DIKs forming and the fact that the HOTs and tri-alphas have been tied together for years.

The words might not hint at it but the images show Sage being interested. It's not at all surprising that a lot of players interpret it as them already being in a relationship. It is a frustratingly vague bit. It doesn't actually prove a damn thing one way or another.

I suppose what DPC could have in had mind was that while they weren't actually in a relationship, Sage was perceived as "Chad's girl" and a lot of guys didn't dare to try trespassing on his territory and Sage might have felt that sleeping with someone else while thinking of Chad would be a shitty thing to do. Or she thought she would ruin her chances if Chad thought she was a slut. And thus Sage hasn't had sex for the last two years, but only the past few months are a matter of Chad not putting out.

Try some Ardbeg, Laphroaig, Talisker, etc., and tell me it doesn't take courage to even smell that stuff.

People use liquid courage to get a buzz to do things. Like a beer, cocktail, shot of sambuca or tequila, etc. More than one whisky will put you out for the night. Now either Sage is really good with her liquor, or has no sense of taste and need something strong, or alcohol just doesn't do anything to her so she goes for flavor. We see her drink other things (wine, etc.) or have hangover days, etc., but nothing says she needs booze to express herself.

She breaks down once while wining and dancing in Episode 11, but that's because she wants a family, and confides in our MC. She also feels amorous. 'guess she likes the guy regardless of whether you're dating her (but not if she knows you're dating someone in the room).

One drinks single malt for one of two reasons: seeking status or because they enjoy the taste (it truly does taste different from blends).

Sage doesn't strike me as a status-chaser and I agree that someone looking for a fast, cheap buzz won't go all out for the good (and usually expensive) stuff...

And it's true. Her choice of drinks doesn't indicate either alcoholism or a lack of liquid courage. Moreover, her charismatic, daring personality doesn't indicate a need for "liquid courage." The latter is more appropriate for Josy.

What is this about Sage? Are we talking about her failed relationship with Chad?

I believe Sage might have been in a relationship with Chad after the flashback during the tommy and rusty flashback.

This is basically the beard relationship from the start with Chad just putting off sex due to you know being gay
