I don't have high expectations for the secret room opening. So far, almost all the cliffhangers have been empty. In episode 1, the MC gets tasered and ends up at a party. In episode 4, we see that Derek and the MC forgot to egg the snobs, but that doesn't matter. "Fuck, fuck, fuck" is what matters, only if the MC had sex with Jade and started dating Sage. The situation with Riona was tough, but even there, nothing irreparable happened. And judging by the previews we've seen, it will be the same in episode 12. What they saw at Bella's house doesn't stop the MC, Sage, Josy, and Maya from having fun at the New Year's party. This doesn't stop MC from going on a date with Nicole. It doesn't stop Jill and Sage from having a great time in the hot house.
And I also think the room's secret will mostly only matter to Bella's route. I'll give you an example from my playthrough. I don't like Josy and Maya. I always break up with them in episode 4, and I always tell Derek I don't have feelings for either of them. Do I care about the ending of episode 3? No. Am I worried about the ending of episode 6? No. Of course, I want Maya to be free of Patrick. I want Maya and Josy to be happy, and I'm ready to help them in any way I can. But as Derek rightly said, my MC doesn't live by that. And I think the same will happen with Bella. The players who aren't in her path, they won't be thinking about the contents of the room after 30 minutes of playing because their thoughts will be occupied by other things that are more important to them personally.
As for James, I think he'll come back. I don't believe all this suspense will lead to anything. My current theory is that when James returns, we'll find out he's not a very good person, and his relationship with Bella was far from ideal even before he disappeared.
