I guess a lot of this does come down to personal interpretation based on personal feelings because to me, whilst the MC did certainly fill a void by being someone that Maya needed at that time, I get the feeling that this allowed her feelings to deepen in a very short space of time and that as much she wants Josy, she also wants the MC and that this is true whatever path you take.

The non-M&J path, while it might not be the best explanation/reasoning, says that she does feel something for him but she didn't feel like she could act on it because of Josy and because she's not accustomed to making her own choices but instead goes with what others want, or in this case what she thinks another person wants.

In the M&J path, I'd agree that he's part of that relationship because she doesn't want to force a difficult choice and that she's deferring this decision to the others, specifically the MC, but I don't see it as the only reason and that she's also doing it because she does like the MC and perhaps has this hopeful optimism that they can make a throuple relationship work.

Big emphasis on the "very short space of time" as we are talking less then 2 weeks (10 days?) in game terms till Josy showed up and all the cards tumbled down.

Maybe if there was some big event during those first few days such as (out of my ass) sticking up for her in front of her dad then I could buy the acceleration but.......she was bribed/blackmailed into letting me stay at her dorm, we watched a movie, she straddled me to allow my abduction..........now she loves me?!?!

I’d imagine he does lurk here. It’s probably the most active community, with the possible exception of his Discord. For me 5 was fine, though I did find it the least replayable of any chapter so far. I Think it easily could have taken place over a few days, with almost the exact same events, but he needed chapter over before Monday due to the Cathy situation. I doubt he changed much he was planning, just making it clear it won’t be a bottle episode.

I would expect a potential point to be more than friends with Josy&Maya again, possibly even doing the threesome for scavenger hunt. It might not be, but there are 15 episodes left and they are main love interests so shutting down their path this early wouldn't make sense and also in episode 5 both of them indicated they liked the MC but chose to not include him in the relationship because it was what they thought the other wanted (although I haven't went back over those conversations and know others interpreted what was said differently).

That's how the DIK's handle Hell Week we don't know about the HOT's so that's a big and unlikely assumption. I'd imagine they will get in since it's more convenient for the story. But like Hell Week I'll assume they both get in weather you're in their relationship or not regardless of our choices unless DPC has it (the story) set so that they don't and we go from there.
