They definitely do care for each other, there's no doubt about that, but you can care for someone without developing romantic feelings and I suppose this is how it is for MC's who don't go down the M&J path and pretty much ignore Maya. But for those who did go down the M&J path and did everything with her, then got blindsided by the revelation at the end of chapter 3 and now dislike Maya intensely, I feel that it's unfair and callous to put all the blame on her and treat her like she's the villain of the piece. The MC is not a villain either, just thinking with a different part of his body.

The best girls always have the most baggage, that's just how it is.

I'm more inclined to believe, that Riona is more the type to turn on Quinn at the more opportune moment, maybe to the cops, or even the distributors. Obviously i see this scenario IF she gets that chance, because i can see her not getting one. Hope she isn't used as an example.
