I don't think that
in the end we had already reached the threshold of 6 months (for me psychologically very critical) per episode, at that point it was only a matter of time that there was a year with only one episode anyway.
probably even without interlude, but only because of the double launch we would have strongly risked to have only one episode this year

Indeed, I though that Quinn would reject the main character when we refuse to help her, but she just doesn't care. So for the threesome to occur, he must either be committed to the girl or ignore her: she won't accept the main character to both hangout with her and with Jill. This proves on the one hand that for Quinn, sex is not related to feelings; and on the other hand, that she can be as jealous as Isabella.Actually, you can get the Sage/Quinn threesome even if you've ignored the hell out of Quinn. You need to be on Sage's path (either as a fuck buddy or someone who hooked up with her in Episode 7), and you cannot have CHICK Affinity, but that's it. Quinn will make a comment about how she doesn't even like the MC but she'll still agree.
As an amusing anecdote, due to the way permanent Neutral Affinity works it's possible to miss this scene because you have not yet made enough CHICK major decisions.
I regret, however, that we don't know more about Quinn's animosity towards Jill, whereas the game's creator usually takes care to detail each other's opinions.

the run with Quinn and Jill was one I was planning, having the right affinity was not prohibitive, and I was counting on the fact that as a story they never crossed paths.
I don't quite understand the sense of imposing a choice (unexplained, like Quinn's at least intuitable one towards Maya and Josy) when shortly afterwards we would have made one directly

The only explanation I can think of for Quinn and Jill is that Dr PinkCake didn't have the time or opportunity to set the relationship between these two characters (Jill didn't attend any parties involving the HOTs or the DIKs).
After eight episodes and as the game is about to start on new basis, this conflict is addressed in a few lines of dialogue so that a player could not date both the most Chick character and the most DIK character. And maybe he thought that Quinn wasn't a person being dumped, but a person who dumps others.

Just bugfix stuff really, it's always better to keep with the updates though, but that's just my opinion.
