The whole desire to look up a girls dress thing is something that must have skipped me by in life. I always found that to be very childish behaviour.

It’s a different thing to enjoy a girl deliberately flashing you (like a frisky girlfriend in class), but otherwise it just comes across creepy to me.

That behaviour aside, what I like about this game is the mc’s confidence when he is a DIK. Whether you consider it to be a dominant DIK trait or not, the open flirting and more that he does when he’s a DIK is a lot of fun.

Even in a relationship with a girl, I have no interest looking up her skirt. Like I said, it seems creepy. You gotta give some credit to DPC in regards to his ability to make players immerse/ insert themselves into his MC variants.

It must be part of the reason why the the DIK V CHICK debate becomes so entrenched. Players seem to attach their own morals to both the MC, his choices and in their interpretations of the affinity system as a whole.

It’s probably worsened by the fact that peoples choices varies quite a bit between runs. IMO the judgement of the morality behind a significant amount of the choices, depend heavily on the specific nature of that particular play through. Wether or not the player thinks or wants his charter to be emotionally invested in an LI or not. The characters he bonds with counts, hell even your sense of humor can guide you down many divergent paths.

I think that the MC will almost always being viewed sympathetically by most characters regardless of the runs. IMO you almost have to go out of your way really be a cunt to as many characters as possible. Which IIRC ironically brings you closer towards neutrality affinity wise, but again the combined weight of the choices matter. That’s just my two cents .

You're right, there's a whole spectrum, but since a lot of DIK actions are either rude, inappropriate, agressive or cocky, I conflated it into 'Jerk points' which got this "argument" started. While that may not be an accurate name, another thing's for sure - they're not 'Confidence points' by a long shot.

One thing I disagree that directness and confidence are specifically DIK traits. In general a lot of the points are more about how MC expresses himself rather than his qualities. How a menu choice is worded is hardly an indication of what's really going on. For example a certain choice could easily be changed to "Shoo the bitches away"/"Invite the girls in".
A person can be both direct and confident without acting sexually aggressive or cocky. The Major choices are what's most impactful to MC's actual character.

I agree, and a lot of this debate is based on stereotypes: "real men" are aggressive, sexist, selfish, philandering etc., whereas our "ideal woman" is supportive, loving, faithful, and hopefully dim enough not to notice that we are fucking around. In reality, men, women and others are much more complex, sometimes even mercurial, swinging wildly between extremes.

Even the word "spectrum" is misleading because it indicates a single dimension. By reducing everything down into a single DIK<->CHICK dimension, DPC does make the game a lot more straightforward - you get a sense of your character at a glance rather than having to compare strength, intelligence, charisma and so forth. But it does detract from the suspension of disbelief; having the MC's character and interactions based on such a simplistic metric, for me doesn't quite gel with the otherwise rich, complex world and narrative.

Anyway, for me, I prefer to make choices that appeal to me in the moment, then just use the mod to view all the lewd scenes I missed.

You're free to see whatever you want as Canon. The points system itself hasn't affected the main storyline, where MC's behavior is inconsistent. In fact for the most part it indicates only how he expresses himself and how he's perceived by others. Or did your enormous mega DIK MC accept Sage's advances in his room ?
