DPС started playing Starfield. Good thing the game turned out to be a typical Bethesda game, and as usual everyone will abandon it after 10-20 hours. Well the optimization sucks of course.
The real gem of Bethesda games is the modding. There is a reason Skyrim and Fallout 4 sold exceedingly well for years aha. Give it a year and it will, undoubtedly, be awesome. However, with the amount of NASA tier PCs he has he can play games whilst rendering!

For a dev not taking it into account he’s done a bang up job avoiding content that’d cause a reaction. Not a single girl Fuckface has a scene with has a scene with another male. The closest is Heather and she’s never had a scene with Tommy. In a game where Quinn, Camila, Riona, Lily and Nicole are literally prostitutes, I mean Zoey didn't have one scene in her own interlude that didn't include him. The game goes out of it's way to dance around and avoid anything that'd get people upset. It's not a coincidence that the only women that we see outright fuck someone other than Fuckface don't have scenes with him (Elena, Arieth).

It’s the most controversial kink it causes more arguments on this site than any other and it doesn't seem to be a few people. It's not really surprising DPC or any dev would just not want to deal with the headache of pissing off so many of his players.
I've never understood it and I don't think I will.

Example 1 - your wife is cheating on you and openly declares it, but you haven't seen it in person. So everything is OK? We saw such a scene in Acting Lessons, for example.

Example 2 - your girlfriend/fuck buddy bangs with someone else besides you (because you have no obligations to each other) and openly declares it, but you haven't seen it in person. Is it ok or not ok? This is what MC and some other girls have been doing for the first 2 seasons.

Example 3 - a girl with whom you are not in a relationship, but would like to fuck with someone, and maybe you even saw it in person. But you hooked up with her and now she's your fuck buddy/girlfriend/wife. Is it ok or not ok? We have seen this countless times, including in the BADIK.

So what's the difference? To know that a fictitious character that you are interested and/or invested in emotionally fucks with someone else, but not to see it, or to know it and see it? For real? It's like someone is ok with everything girl is doing, until he see it personally, lol. It's like pretending that every girl is a virgin and don't fuck with everybody and you are always her first.

Let's think about examples, and then think about the reasons why we don't see "scenes" with someone else fucking MG/SG or side girls.

We have some blatant and explicit prostitutes in game, in the person of Riona, Camila, Sarah, Melanie and Quinn, at least. We clearly know that they are fucking with a lot of other people. But it doesn't stop people dreaming of them, "wife material", etc or just to be their fan.

Regarding scenes, for the sake of what DPC should waste his time, the game scenes and renders space, etc? Just to show us some scenes with MG/SG/side girls fucking with somebody else? In the past? Or currently? The cucks will be grateful, the rest of players are at least annoyed by the fact of wasting time and resources on completely useless scenes. Fans and white knights who can't imagine and handle having their imaginary girlfriend fucked (or oh my god!) fucking someone else will be furious. In short, the creation of such scenes will be approved only by the cucks, i.e. a clear minority. For the rest of healthy people, hints in scenes or words in dialogues are enough to understand what is happening. While white knights and just sissies can go and suck a dick, because DPC doesn't follow all of this "unspoken" rules. He keeps a good balance so as not to attract cucks, but also not to reject normal players. And I hope we, as MC, will be able to "help" some of MGs/SGs which we had rejected before to find a soul mate at the end. DPC made it in Acting Lessons before, so, why he wouldn't do it again in BADIK?

Status update Episode 10 (BETA TESTING PHASED)

Grab a cup of something and take a break. A large chunk of text without a tldr incoming.

It’s been a while since I do some update here, First off… Boom! The 5000 render milestone was reached this week. Now episode 10 has more renders than episode 9 – the previously biggest episode in the game. And because I reached this milestone, I had to try and estimate how much is left in terms of development.
I have been working on art and coding all week. I started by completing two smaller scenes and one free-roam event. The better part of the week was spent on creating the last free-roam event of the episode. Since it’s a new environment, there was environmental design to carry out first, and also preparation of the characters for it.

The dialogue for this free-roam event was written months ago, so it’s a matter of creating the art and coding the events and buttons. It’s a labor-intensive yet easy free-roam event to create, so I should be able to maintain a good speed without any speed bumps.
After the recent weeks of playing and polishing the game, my flowchart has been updated, and the following checklist is what the current state is like.
As I develop these episodes, I always ask you to take numbers with a grain of salt because the scene/render/animation count will change until the last few weeks of development. This is why it’s always hard for me to give accurate estimates.
As you will notice below, the scene count is larger than I reported earlier because of the addition of some scenes that were needed to make some branches feel whole.

Checklist Episode 10
This is the current checklist of what’s left to do before beta testing can begin.

Scenes
  • Three lewd scenes – One is written. Neither scene has any art.
  • Three free-roam events – One is almost complete, another has a few scenes left, and I’m ~70% through the last one. All writing is done. All need a different degree of testing and additional phone content.
  • Three normal scenes – One is written, one has partial writing, and one is planned. Neither scene has any art.
Art
Based on the scenes above, I estimate I must pose an additional ~600 static renders and 70-100 animations.
  • Current static render count: 4892 produced. 220 posed renders in the render queue. 5112 renders total.
  • Current animation count: 237 produced. 28 posed animations in the render queue. 265 animations total.
Sound
SFX work has been done as I play-tested parts of the episode; I estimate it’s ~80-90% done.
For music, it’s the same as with SFX. Most of the scenes that are complete have songs in place. 25 new songs have been added so far.

Testing
I haven’t played the episode from start to finish yet because of gaps in the episode and missing content near the end.
My personal tests and polishing remain. How long they take usually depends on how much I have played the episode during development and whether new features are involved.
Episode 10 is packed with new things for the game, meaning testing might take some extra time to ensure high quality.

My thoughts on the checklist.
The animations will be the most demanding part, but cannot be skipped or trimmed as the scenes are essential for the episode.
The static render estimation can change in either direction but is likely lower than stated. The code tasks are all fast tasks to complete. I estimate that I could get all of them done within 1-2 days of work, but they depend on the art content I need to produce first.
The remaining work on SFX and Music won’t take too long, 1-2 days here as well. Testing is another demanding part. I have lots of new features to test this time around. And we are talking about the five main branches on top of some very ambitious branching within them.
As always, there will be waiting time for animations near the end of the development, and this is when I plan to perform my personal tests and polishing.
Hopefully, I have covered all aspects of the checklist, but I may have missed something minor – all big tasks are accounted for.

My plan going forward.
I plan to work with art until I need to write the last scenes. Animations will be posed intermittently.
I plan to be done with my testing as the final animation frames are produced, thus minimizing the time between the PCs being idle and the start of beta testing/proofreading. As usual, at least two weeks will be allotted for private beta testing and proofreading before the episode can be released on Patreon.
Next up for me is to continue with art on the free-roam I’m working on and hopefully be able to move on to other scenes later next week and the next time I update here, all the previews for Episode 10 will be posted here also.
Have a nice weekend, and thanks for reading.

The bloody couch is such a small thing compared to the theories you hear around here.
With the theory that the cover of Lynette's diary is made from her skin, it's hard to be surprised.

Clearly those guys are nasty and love a bit of period sex.
Or this couch is a kind of altar, on which regularly occurs deprivations of virginity.

But jocks as a pirates of the red seas is also a good version!

Thank you very much Darkdevil66
I will never know how DPC spent hours on that and never realized he was cooking up granny ass as a "reward".

You don't want to see a character that you're emotionally invested in have sex with another man? There must be something wrong with YOU.
View attachment 2896859
That's the thing though they never had sex with you never mind "another man" because they're not real. You cannot be cheated on by someone you have never fucked. Disliking a fetish is one thing but it often goes beyond that on here.

Camila and Riona's sex work would cuck a player about as much as watching Adriana Chechik get gangbanged does. All the distance and detachment that are normally there for fictional characters seems to go out the window with NTR. Like the people that believe they're with a actor they've never met or send death threats to the bad guy's actor. Marcolion is right it often comes across as outright unhealthy a lot of the time.

but look I'm not trying to convince anyone otherwise, but it remains that the most constant argument for praising BADIK's work is disdain for other similar works. that besides being a weak argument, I also find it quite counterproductive, if AVNs are such a dunghill, no matter how much BADIk emerges the stench will always be that.

if I then have to respond to your examples I find them really unremarkable and not particularly significant about the quality of writing. let's start with the fact that they are naturally very subjective, for example that the Jill cycle is coherent and well carried out is at least a controversial opinion...

American Pie, but like it many even worse comedies, have exciting moments, we are human beings, getting excited is easy enough, you just have to push the right buttons (as for example pixar movies do, even the less successful ones)

if I imagine Badik's transposition on paper I see an unreadable work, a concentration of characters who always react at the highest intensity (Mc drops out of college because he had a fight with Troy, Josy runs away from home to go to college, Sage goes to spy on her boyfriend with binoculars, Maya knows that her father has the keys to her room but is sure she will not use them without warning first, Bella stays over at MC's getting caught by all the DIks , Zoey asks MC to drop out of school a few months before it ends and again and again)

there isn't a single story arc that told really makes sense, that's not to say that there aren't funny moments (the poop and fart jokes still make me laugh) or exciting moments. there are qualities, but they aren't enough to hold Badik up as a story on foot
I want to start by thanking anyone who has any willpower to read my Saturday afternoon bullshit. I appreciate you all, especially Joshy.

I understand your argument about comparing BaDIK to other AVNs and why looking from your perspective wouldn't seem like such a good thing. It's like being one normal in a family of crazy people. Still, I feel like it should be something people can be happy about if they just want a good VN product or care about this; let's call it "industry" for lack of a better word. I always hated the Asian/anime aesthetic and I was really frustrated that all the good non-sexual visual novels were in that style. It's still kind of weird that the only western visual novel I could enjoy is a porn one.

I think my error was to send you to my past post without any additional context as to why I believe it is important to our discussion. It's the middle of the day for me and I hope that I have a few more brain cells than the previous night, so I will try to help you understand where I'm coming from. I wouldn't take characters acting on weird impulses as a flaw. It fits what DPC is going for; it fits the obvious BaDIK inspirations. But most importantly, what makes everything over-the top fit, that it is all consistent.

My biggest issues with other VNs are:
  • Characters aren't consistent with the personalities they were established with. It happens when, for example, the writer makes the mistake of making the story they want to tell shape the characters actions. Instead of characters personalities, wants, and needs influencing their actions, which in turn move the story forward,
  • The story and themes aren't consistent - I will admit, I've had it happen to me at least a few times. I understand how unserious and amateurish this type of content is, and I don't mind it most of the time. What I mind is the fact that for 80% of the game, you're basically playing a VN that consists of incest family drama just out of the blue, the last 20% is going to be about spy missions, saving each other from evil corp etc etc. You get the gist.
  • Everything is just not that engaging - The most subjective thing, kinda like everything in life, but still worth talking about. I'm not that deep into the lore of writing, but I know there are many tricks and strategies in order to create engaging characters and character arcs. But most VNs don't know how to do this. Imagine Arieth without a humour factor; that's most characters in VNs (not all, mind you).
  • Lack of or failure to touch on interesting themes: The story doesn't touch on any interesting topics, and if it does, it fails to do so well.
That's what makes BaDIK work in my opinion:
  • There are of course certain moments when that isn't true, but for the most part, characters in BaDIK have well-established personalities and they act accordingly to those personalities while also making decisions based on implied desires and wants that they do not talk about.
  • It's not that everything is quite normal and then, BOOM all of a sudden, MC decides to leave B&R because of some poor excuse. Everything is over the top; everything is consistent in this over-the-topness. I don't think BaDIK will ever be Oppenheimer, Joker or bringing back the Last of Us Part 2 meme, Schindler's List. But I think in the crazy world that it established, it's pretty damn consistent, which helps with the suspension of disbelief. DPC also makes the world feel more alive thanks to Rooster, text messages and putting characters in the background. MC talks to Derek while walking through campus and suddenly notices Jamie walking with Riona. It really helps with making the world feel alive, consistent and engaging for the player.
  • I really like how engaging everything is. At the end of the day, it's not that deep and most characters are well-known stereotypes. But they are still consistently written, sometimes with a twist. Not placing all cards on the table while still leaving breadcrumbs here and there also helps the engagement. Good humour and the ability to make it so that different characters display different kinds of humour And there are so many of those characters (impressive fact that they're so consistent while being so many of them), so many of them interact with each other to push the story forward and if not, then at least allow for really interesting dynamics.
  • As said previously. BaDIK ain't that serious to talk about existential topics like some cyberpunk distopia discussing the idea of mortality. But for the simplest topics it discusses, it does a really good, or at least a solid job. The moments when DPC just speaks from the heart behind MC's dialogue are like an adult version of a Disney movie. I love the movie Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. It's one of the best animated movies I've ever seen and without going too deeply into this, the message of the movie and the scene "What's Up Danger" are just something that clicks with my life and is something I've always deeply cherished. BaDIK ain't written as well as this thing, but it does the job. Maybe for someone cynical it won't be much; maybe it's only for immature teenagers, like r/Im14andthisisdeep, lol, but I always loved a good moral speech or at least a good-hearted thing at the end of the movie.
I know the game still has many narrative flaws, and I know that it really stretches the suspension of disbelief the moment it gives players a choice, like, for example, the ability to fuck 10 girls in one night. But when I look at Being a Dik, I don't see unreadable nonsense. I see something that, with changes to things done for the player's power fantasy, transitioning the VN choices format into one-and-done canon, and transforming writing for a game into writing for a book (with narration, etc.), I can see something that wouldn't throw our asses off chairs but at least a good-hearted, feel-good read.
