Ren'Py - Completed - Betrayed [v1.01 Full] [Joraell]

Easy top 5 of any VN on here. Why you ask ? It's simple the renders are above and beyond anything posted on this forum, the women absolutely stunning, the animations are the best hands down of anything you'll come across on this board. Oh still not convinced. ok throw in a unique story line and great writing and no boring grind . Highly recommended as of now if things change in the future I will amend this review.

Very good game with some amazing render quality and storytelling. The latest update for the game v0.2.6 was in particular the most interesting for me. I think at this point of time, there is more than enough content for people to consider unzipping their pants (if you know what I mean).

While I am giving this a 5 star rating, I do like to say that there is so much more than can be told. There are so many plots within the story that have yet to be fully delved into (or fleshed out). If you're reading up to this as a 'player' and not as the 'dev', don't get discouraged. The plot is very good, but I feel like there's a lot of room for the dev to continue working on.

Overall, I highly suggest the game to anyone and everyone.

I feel like this game has already built up a decent fanbase, but it's pretty short and nothing special. Does better than some of the games on this site, when it comes to not having sex scenes be a grind to see. What's currently available doesn't really make it clear why the title is named the way it is, which other games actually explain better.

Models look decent, but that's about it. Writing is less wordy than the last game I played this morning, which had worser looking models, but somehow manages to get 400 pages of attention. If there was more content, it could probably be good. As is though, annoyances mostly lie on clicking around to solve puzzles, the first one with the keys being a difficult one, since the bath brush couldn't be used to grab them.

Irrelevant objects like that are pretty lame to have for this kind of gameplay style.

The dev Joraell asked me a while ago to write a review about his new project "Betrayed"... sooooo, well..., here goes nothing!
he wanted me to be as criticizing as possible, expect a lot of nitpicking on my side in this review!

i found quite some flaws in this game, hence the 3 stars. but first things first: the story.

you play as a horny teenager who is looking on his phone while he crosses the streets (using zebra crossing), when suddenly a car hits him. he dies and meets his guardian angel and ofc. a devil from hell. the devil offers him a chance to live among the livings with some nice lil' superpowers if he signs a contract. but everything comes at a price. first of all: his powers are pretty weak at first and needs to develop. second: he can only roam around as a spirit and has to take over human beings to be able to interact with the world. third: he can only roam around for a month then the contract will end and he has to return to heaven, hell or whatever. the game starts with the protagonist being a spirit.
...dunno why, but this whole setting reminds me of the movie "bedazzled".

gameplay:
first up, this game is a visual novel and fucking plays like one. don't think it might be a sandbox game or something, 'cause it's not. you play a linear story with a lil' bit of interaction (that has no impact in your progress for now) and you simply click on 'til the game is over. i expect some open endings once the game is done and finished (especially a good route with the angel and a bad one with the devil and maybe some minor differences in those two endings...depending on what decisions you did with side characters). sometimes the game wants you to travel from A to B, sometimes ya gotta solve a lil' puzzle and sometimes you just gotta click on a certain object like a door or a bench to proceed. pretty simple, pretty straightforward. and if you are still stuck, the game also offers a neat hint button. via map you can decide where you wanna go. due to the straight gameplay however the interaction with the map (jeah, the game features a fucking map ^^) and its possibilities are nonexistent. no multiple things ya gotta do at the same time, no freedome at what you want to do in that given time. in fact, it's so straight forward that i don't understand why a map was implemented in the first place. granted though, the map is fully fleshed out and looks great. maybe the dev will implement a lot more in future updates. as for now the map is actually just cosmetic. a nice plus: you get a neat tutorial right at the start!

story writing:
story writing is quite shallow and not as deep as, let's say, yu-no. take it as a light hearted visual novel and you will have some fun here and there (especially when magical growing pills come into play ^^). you won't have any problems at all following up. the writing itself is ....oookay i guess. the dev seems to know that his english isn't the best, so he decided to write everything in "simple english", which i appreciate. it's way better to write something in simple sentences than to fuck it up by writing in big words without knowing how to properly write 'em. he kept grammar mistakes at bay with this decision. however, that doesn't mean i didn't find any . in fact, the longer the game went on the more mistakes i found. but they aren't hindering at understanding what's going, just... a bit annoying. and,... don't expect super erotic lines during sex scenes or something.

characters:
i gotta say, all models seem to look pretty unique! i especially like the guardian angel and her looks. none of these faces remind me of any other games. nice! this game's version was way too short to tell ya much of all the ingame characters unfortunately, yet it's clear that several characters play a foul game. but what their intentions are,... no clue so far.

graphics, animations & sound:
the graphics are the game's major plus. really nicely done here. lots of images are fully fleshed out with shadows and lightining effects. even the fucking minimap has shadows included xD. the game also comes with animations. but since i gotta be nitpicking every shit, i got some flaws for ya. while the animations don't look too bad, they still lack a lot of "appealing" things that make an animation erotic. it doesn't matter how big of a cock the protagonist has, you won't see bulge animations when he rams that monster in a girls throat, which is a bummer. you will also miss wetness on skin like sweat and other fluids ^^, afterreaction to skin (like a reddened skin, bruises, whatever) and skin that actually moves a bit after an impact (only thing i saw were boobs wiggling around whenever the protagonist "pushed in"). hair doesn't move around either...must be the best hair gel in the world xD. but the biggest flaw is the animation speed. it's like you are fucking girls in slow-mo. there is simply no energy involved during the sex scenes. jeez, increase the speed a bit dev. make'em go wild! humans fuck like rabbits on drugs not like turtles ^^. apart from that i only found one corny sex scene fairly at the end of the version with tracy...and one lil' clipping during the bonus sex scenes at the end of the game with the guardian angel. while the protagonist fucks that angel's ass you can see her eyelids clipping a bit. but all in all he did a great job avoiding corny graphics and clippings. overall all sex scenes lack that "umpf" behind it, thus making it less sexy than they could be.
about the sounds: no sound ingame (and ofc. no synchro), however you can listen to some music in the background. better than nothing i suppose. i just wish some devs would have the guts to use music from newgrounds or so. that would be awesome.

bugs'n'other stuff:
the dev did as great job hunting down all the bugs. yet i still found one .
after fucking that blonde girl bethany in the car with brandon, when ya go back to school to open up the locker in the hallway, go to your inventory right before you open the locker and then click X to close the inventory. you will suddenly be teleported back to the car scene. but don't worry, it's not a game breaking bug. the technical frame is extremely solid and another major plus in the game.

overall i give this game, as it stands right now, 3 stars. i must say that i had to think whether or not to give it 4 stars, but too many small flaws clinched it for me. the game has the potential to be worth 4 stars, but i highly doubt it can reach more. the thing is, that the story is so "jammed" and linear (and so far also shallow), that lots of great possibilities are simply left unused. but who knows, maybe the dev will surprise me with something spectacular in future updates.

so far: 3/5 stars! (actually around 3.5 stars, but you can only give full stars here, yet rounding up to 4 stars would be too generous here).


last but not least: is it worth playing? well, jeah...why not. it won't hurt ya to play it ^^. however it's also pretty short so far. you might need a second game as a "finisher" xD.

some thoughts (don't affect the score or anything; it's just my mind talking here): i would love to see this type of game (with the exact same beginning) as an open ended sandboxy game where you just get thrown into the world as a spirit and decide on your own what ya wanna do. wanna take over a loser and make him a motherfucking hero, criminal, womanizer, whatever. do so. wanna take over a boss of a huge company by taking over one employee after another and then stepping up until you are in reach, do so. wanna help others with your skills? do so either. wanna be the worst scum on earth? do so xD. the possibilities with this idea of being a spirit who can interact with the world by possessing other human beings are endless.

Great start of game, awesome graphics, can't wait for more content and consequences for actions.

Assumed Sophia was mom but no patch....then I met mom. Wow.

Definitely a game to keep up with as potential to be top 10.

This is a very interesting porn/erotic game that shows lots of potential despite being only at its second update; what makes this game truly shine is the animation quality that is one of the best I've ever seen in this genre of games (including the legendary animations of Milfy City), and this is already a great achievement; combine this with a great render quality and an interesting supernatural storyline (even if it can't be really judged so early in development) that could potentially take any direction and create an endless amount of sexual situations, and we have a great game that anyone should try!

Most likely I'm gonna say the same thing that I said already via PM to the dev itself (at least I hope so. Sometimes I end up saying other things), and I apologize if it's not that great of a review - but I'm honestly bad at those so.. without further ado, let's get into it shall we?

- First of all, it was a neat thing using some animations for some (or most of them) of the sex scenes. The looping effect wasn't even really that bad compared to some other productions (*cough* Bloodlust *cough*) and I find it quite enjoyable, but like I already said countless times already, it's not my cup of tea. I just hate the looping. But again generally speaking, it was awesome.
- Second, the grammar here is quite good. Iirc I don't remember seeing any particular error, but if instead something was inside most likely I didn't see it because wasn't that "serious". Meaning that the "flows" of the text was relatively good and didn't let me stop for a moment and think thoroughly about the fact "Hey, this is the right combination of words? People say like this?" or something similar.
- Third, the render used here I can honestly say that are quite amazing. Obviously the Devil and the Angel here are on the podium, overshadowing easily the other characters (remember, personal opinion. Surely for others it's not like that, but for me it is), but the thing that I didn't quite like was all that "grainy" details that most of the CG's have. But it's ok in the end, Daz3D it's not really that easy to use and if you don't have a good Computer you can't really do that much in the end (I mean, the same it's even for me so.. but I managed somehow to "play around" with the settings here and there. Also I think that It's even thanks to my Graphic Card but it's not important right now).

So, overall.. like the score above says, I give this game a 4 star out of 5. Thank you for reading and for your patience!

First, the Animations are pretty cool, i like the story so far. Only thing i don't like about it is that the MC is Dead but that is just minor and personal preference. The Devil is Hot AF. I like the other chars to but i think the angel is looking too much like an anime Character so for me she does not really fit in with the others that are looking pretty normal. But the renders of the game are really good.

Oh and another thing i don't like games with a time limit that much since i am more the sandbox guy, just one Month sounds a little bit short for me but again personal preferences!

So yeah i enjoyed it, can not wait for further updates and to get my hands on the devil!

If you are looking for a game with really good renders and animations, then you can't avoid trying this one here.

Sure the story is rather short so far, but it left me with the thought that i want to continue the story and that i of course want to see more of these awesome renders and animations.

Still not a friend of that whole movement stuff, but that I criticize in nearly all of the games with such a system.

The new hint system helps a lot and is a good improvement and the new map looks nice. The roommate still doesnt look that good and a bit old - even the mom looks younger imho ^^

Now it depends of the ongoing story how good the game can become. The foundation is now solid. I hope that decisions (like the 100 bill stuff) will make a difference in the later game and that this will develop into something that you can play more than once

The renders are a bit inconsistent. There is a range from ok to great and the animations are really good. In the end I prefer games that tell their stories and have some good decisions with consequences (and not just a game over) and dont have animations, because that is something that costs a lot of time and in the end we might get a really nice animation in a 5-10min update.

This is one of the better games. but it is way to early to finally judge it - so this is just a snapshot of the current state.
In my personal database it has a 6/10 so here it is a 3/5.

Nevertheless, it's a game to keep an eye on.

Promising start of a game with a story that hasnt been told a million times, which gives it enough originality to make it interesting. The writing is decent enough and the characters that have some development are alright, although its too soon to give a solid opinion on that point yet.

Now what really differentiates this game from the rest and makes it good is the renders and especially the animations. The animations are most likely the most detailed and smooth I have seen in one of these game, with a very good quality, and they are actual animations with progression of the scene instead of simple 1 or 2 second loops.

wow what a great start! really interesting and refreshing storyline...and the animations in this game are one of the best i have ever seen! i had a lot of fun playing this...waiting for more awesome updates
i have only one issue in this game...its the veins on the dick...feels really unnatural...hopefully the developer will fix this in future updates..
but still this game is a must try if you haven't already

Excellent game. It has an interesting story that lets you choose between "good" and "evil" path in a way I haven't seen in many other projects yet. The way the story is set up promises potential for lots of kinky fun stuff. And the renders and especially the animations are absolutely amazing.

Defenitely worth a try for anyone who likes 3dcg adult games.

While its obviously still early days for this game there is alot to enjoy here, alot of very good animation work and basicly limitless potential with the story line, definatly one to watch and currently my new favorite game.

It's a decent game, has a lot of potential, not much content yet though. Good animations, even an interesting story premise, curious to see where the dev takes it. The next update should be interesting, so far they have been.

There is a lot to say about good quality animation. It is there by the dozen. The story has a unique pace, it stops flat as you get your bearings, you have time to catch your breath after stunning visuals straight from the start.
It gives the very welcome illusion that you would need to keep in mind this or that of the polished and attractive girls.
You need not batter your eye lashes. Game picks up just as it would a story fanatic. It pours in different angles on the visuals you just experienced. Next to the studious and driven story visuals, when you finally get to make first steps on your own, you stumble.
It is a direction in the game. No easy way to be a spirit. No easy way to be a non variable in the lives of others. This helps put your character in the right place in the intended plot.
You have to be driven. You have to be strong. You have to stand up to the devil.
As bleak as that perspective may be, restricted and left to the whims of benevolent dames looking for unspecified favors...these are dames. They have class. They have purpose. You have a meaning in their eyes for you.
It is that shining feature that you have to model and make sparkle. You have to be and strive to be the asset that said dames in this very game have put in you.
The face you wear? Irrelevant! The body you adorn? No figure!
The spark of love you still harbor for the ones you left behind is your driving force. It keeps you strong! It gives you meaning in a whirlwind of endless but gargantuan possibilities that you wield. But not you, rather your faith wields with the ease of a pen master, the whiz of a chess great master and the vigor of a thrilled little girl turning her ken doll into Superman. Be the superman DEV wants you to be! Be the doll a wonderous faith keeps astonishingly brave and adorable girls turning towards and guiding your every enamored step into the afterlife for the ages.
As long as you keep faith and spirits up, game will show its hand and keep you in the game. Never surrender to choppy mechanics - they are designed to soften your grip so that your serve will touch the sweet spot on the crisp, heavenly, pure, immaculate souls your gils give 159% over to you. Enjoy a turn of events very twisted to a cloistered mind, but once you ease up, you lift your eyebrows, you look into the steamy intense eyes of the girls in this game, you will fill with joy. You will smile all the way into the hotness of the scenes that put candy into your eyes, they serrender your worries, they surpass your cringe. Give in to a sweet collection of moves and dialogue: stop. start. repeat. enjoy!

Beautiful, high quality renders and absolutely great animations (camera angles changes periodically, movements and pace changes), gorgeous models, they're all absolutely commendable! And finally it was the great potential of the story that had me stay, story has great potential, I find it rather intriguing, so I'm definitely waiting for next update with great anticipation and impatience!

Originally i was attracted to this game simply based on the Succubus/Demoness image from the very first entry..it was stunning..i started playing..at first it was confusing as the hotspots were tricky..but eventually i got the hang of it and it became fluid and easy to play..now with more updates ..the game is gaining alot of fine content and the story is intriguing....the renders are amazing..some of the most beautiful i've seen...and the animation in later updates is truly outstanding and will please all greatly...with the hint system implemented..the game becomes a breeze and should never need a walkthrough...i highly recommend this game..especially for those that want a story and are BIGTIME into superior renders..as this ranks with the very best.
