So, judging by that change log, Eric is going to be unavoidable... Or is it actually going to be just dinner and not him staying the night?

It depends a bit on your definition of "slightly".
I think it's still worth to play the old version and only then start the rebuild.
And it would be a good way to pass the time until the final version of chapter 1 is out. Because once it's out, you'll have to restart anyway. Savegames in the rebuild do not transfer from one version to the next. If you only want to play one time, always wait for the final version of each chapter.

No, he'lly definitly either be Max open adversary or act behind his back. But it will be possible to "win" and throw him out of the house.
But since he's still Anns boss after being thrown out he'll continue to cause problems later.
I have no problem with him being an adversary, I'd just like a chance to actually oppose him before he starts fucking Ann, and ideally stop him fucking Ann with the right choices. My biggest issue with the base game and all it's clones is that the cuck shit was never avoidable before you could stop it.

In the old build you could give him laxative with his dinner, so he would spend his evenings on the toilet rather than on a girl.
But you could do so only once a week and he visited twice. So either keep him busy when Lisa is supposed to get lessons from him or keep him away from Ann. How it will be in the rebuild we don't know yet, as he's supposed to only go after Ann.

He literally makes at least $10k a month with Boosty... while it's impossible to transfer saves from the previous game update to the new one?
Who are these people who pay for a subscription, what's the point of it then? (Of course, unless you're crazy and enjoy replaying the entire game over and over again)
I wanted to start following this game, playing new content as it came out, like I did with the original BB, but now I'll have to put the game on hold, since I can't transfer my saves to a new versions. And honestly, I'm not sure if I'll still be alive to see its release or if the author will abandon it, haha

Yep, Ren'Py has a security feature to encrypt and only accept savegames from the same user and same version, since it's possible to hack executable code into a savegame.
In this case however it's used because this is not a stupid straight forward VN where stuff gets only added. The subversions are only steps to the final goal which is a chapter. This way Alexey can change stuff at the beginning of the game.
You can force Ren'Py to accept all savegame, but it might cause bugs. Do so at your own risk.
The release is out for two days no, you only have to wait for it to drop here.
" the entire game over and over again" ... no, only the subversions of each chapter. Once CH1 is complete, the same will happen to CH2, but you don't have to replay CH1 again.
And don't worry about the supporters, they know exactly what they get.

One is called "Big Brother Another Story REBUILD", the other one is "Big Brother Another Story" - legacy version, discontinued. Different games.
Don't download REBUILD 0.8, wait for REBUILD 0.9 aka "Chapter 1" to drop these days.
Because also this is designed not to use old savegames. If you play 0.8 now, you'll have to restart at Ch1 Final.
(and later do the same for CH2. If you don't want to have to restart, always wait for the finished version of each chapter).
